I am going to see the movie today. I will come back with all my comments and accolades.
Peace. Surely they should have been higher then the Johnny Cash movie. They was also below average expectations. They gross 18 million when they were expected to gross between 20-25 million.
Yeah I don't see #4 either but then they skip to #9 for that In The mix with Usher. I wonder what's #4

I bet next weekend Rent will hold pretty strong. There are a lot of more "casual" Rent fans who have seen the show once and are interested in the movie that just didn't rush to see it the first weekend, and are planning it more around their schedule.

Sadly, no, Rent dropped off almost every day from it's opening day, that means people did rush out to see it and that word of mouth is not good. Look for it to gross about 5.5 next weekend and start to shed theatres. It will probably come in with a final gross around $38-$42 million. Nowhere near the $90 or so it would need to be profitable in its domestic run.
Honestly, it deserves less. It is a terrible, cheesy and campy recreation of something that was once a truly beautiful work of art.
^^Well I will go see it today...I been hearing a couple of reasons why that might be the case but I refuse to repeat them until I see the movie. Updated On: 11/27/05 at 02:45 PM
*blink* Are you pulling my leg? I remember Crossroads doing pretty awful in the box office, or at least I used it as justification to make smug comments to some obsessive Britney fan I disliked. ARGH.
Don't forget the point Anthony made on the other box office thread, next week teens actually will have more of a say on what movies they see... and I think that will really boost ticket sales alone.

Crossroads made $17 million its opening weekend and had a total domestic gross of $37 million.
