I looked back, and I was suprised nobody ever asked this. Anyway, I am looking for some great cast recordings and was wondering what are some of the best. I probably should have started this before the day before christmas and hannuka, but whatever. Deal.

Last Five Years is the most amazing recording ever IMO of any show.

Thoroughtly Modern Millie is also a great recording.

Definitely Light in the Piazza...not a false moment on that whole disc...just sublime.

I totally agree with Composer9-it is such a perfect recording. Also,if you liked it, check out Floyd Collins (sp?) and Myths and Hymns....They're both great and underappreciated.

Sorry to get off topic but I have a question and I'm not sure where else to post it. What kind of stuff is in "The Last Five Years" booklet that comes with the Cd (ie pictures, lyrics, etc ) or is it just a front and back cover? Thanks!

Anyway I love Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Wicked : )

TL5Y booklet has lyrics and pictures, yeah (pictures where SRS looks absolutely STUNNING, let's not even pretend that she doesn't).

Can anyone tell me a little bit more about John & Jen? I asked for it for Christmas and totally didn't get it. I mean, I know I'm going to end up buying it anyway because even if people were saying it was terrible -- hello, Carolee, I need it anyway. But all I hear is great stuff about it. It's a two character show, right? I tend to be very hot and cold with Lippa's stuff, I don't know why...

Something that I think is fun to do to be a daring theatre freak is to go to the store and buy a CD of a musical you've never heard of or have heard little about and give it a listen to. So even if you just buy someone who LOVES musical theatre a random CD -- I think that'd make a cool gift.

But you can try:
Songs For A New World
Bat Boy
Once on this Island
Parade
Jane Eyre
