"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I'm trying not to watch any coverage of this movie but I can't help myself.
I just want to buy the soundtrack, see the movie and see Jennifer Hudson kick ass and go.
She's so wonderful. So genuine.
I'm so excited for this movie. Beyonce may even win me over.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)
Oprah is promoting this movie like she produced it!

That she is, Capn. It looks so wonderful, and all of the interviews are so good, especially Anika and Jennifer. It's comforting to see how humble they are and so sweet!
wowww, I really knew nothing about dreamgirls before this, but it looks INCREDIBLE!!
and um Dear Beyonce, PLEASE just drop the annoying music career that does NOT show off your brilliant voice AT ALL and go to broadway!!
cause dayaaaam she can sing- you'd just never really know it from her solo music!
and Broadwayboy2631, I dont.. think so? I mean its def a possibility... but I think on oprah when people perform they dont generally lipsync- I mean, if they had to lipsync they'd prob just choose not to perform at all :) But it DID sound perfect enough to be lipsynced!
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
Came right home from work this afternoon to catch Oprah and I was not disappointed. The footage from the film looked stunning. I can't wait for this movie to be released. It didn't appear to me that Beyonce was lip-synching "Listen" and I thought her performance was amazing. December 25th can't get here fast enough.
I pretty sure it was Beyonce's voice (live), and I don't think she would lip-sync, well at least I hope not. She sounded absolutely amaazing. WOW. She needs to do more stuff like this and drop some of that hip hop crap. You can barely hear her wonderful voice!
this made me sooooooo excited to see it, you have no idea. well, you do, because you are theater people too.
