This is great news! I am really excited about the extras.
Finally, a real Rent DVD to replace the dry Chris Columbus version.
yeah, TOTALLY excited for this!!!!!!
probably not, but I hope they keep the intermission in!! i thought it was cool seeing the countdown, and then seeing people move stuff on stage

Who in the hell had the bright idea to wait till Feb to release it? HELLO put it out around Christmas so all those "rentheads" will bitch and moan to their parents to get it for them.

i think they have to keep the intermission in, or fill the time with one of the "special features" it would be one hell of an awkward transition from LVB to SOL.
Any news of a soundtrack? Or would it be a cast recording?
while i would also LOVE to have a soundtrack of this... i don't think that'll happen :/
Don't worry, some Renthead with the right software will rip it and within 2 hours there'll be 56 sendspace links.
Awesome. I'm not sure about a Soundtrack. I'm not up on movie lingo but does this mean the audio for the DVD itself or an actual soundtrack.
"accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack."

I was not crazy about the filiming. It actually gave me a headache and I thought was a big disappointment. However I will rent the DVD for the special features. I am very interested in seeing those. RENT is one of my favorite musicals.
I really enjoyed the filming, and am so glad it will be released on DVD! Looking forward to my copy!
i understand what you mean by headache.. on the big screen, the quick movements were a bit much, but hell, it was a live performance, so thats all you can ask for, so ya just gotta take what you get
im so stoked though :)
Well it wasn't only the quick movements, but all of the tight shots. You rarely got to see everything that was going on onstage. I was just prett surprised they decided to film it that way. I really feel it was a waste of at least 15 of the 20 bucks I spent to see it in the theater. Just my opinion! Wasn't totally crazy about the movie version of the show, but I like it better than the filmed stage version.

So... Is it too soon to see/hope if this means we'll have any similar releases for other Broadway shows?
It is going to kill me to watch this, isn't it?
