Here's a first look at the new film. It will finally air on HBO in April 09. It actually looks quite good. You can see Barrymore and Lange "before and after" in the trailer.
This does actually look terrific...it's the first I've seen or heard of this film in a while. Can't wait.
"If there is going to be a restoration fee, there should also be a Renaissance fee, a Middle Ages fee and a Dark Ages fee. Someone must have men in the back room making up names, euphemisms for profit."
(Emanuel Azenberg)
Thanks for posting, but are there any versions online that aren't filmed off a TV screen with no tripod? A direct link or something transferred online directly?
(not meaning to complain; just am never able to make it thru Yoo-Toob posts like this...)
Wow, this looks really good. I always knew Drew Barrymore had a good actress hidden under that romantic-comedy cutesy personality. I hope this movie is as good as that teaser looks.
"[Gore] was widely perceived as arrogant. If you know something, you're not smart. You're a smarty-pants. It's annoying. People get annoyed with your knowledge. It goes back to high school, to not doing your homework ... 'There's something I should know, I don't know why I should know it but someone knows it and I don't. So I'm going to have to make fun of him now.'"

I recently received the limited edition photo book of Little Edie's life (much delayed from it's original release date). At first I thought Drew Barrymore was all wrong for the role. Once I saw all the photos of Little Edie in her prime, I have to say that Drew is PERFECT! Hopefully she will be able to convincingly do Little Edie's accent! Some of these clips look like she was torn out of the family photographs!

From Vogue Magazine: "Before she left for Toronto, she tells me proudly, she took off almost fifteen pounds--strictly through exercise, without cutting out her beloved Johnny Rocket cheeseburgers or "bowls of pasta." Her weight now fluctuates between 110 and 115, and the dresses she wore for this photo shoot were a size 4.) But naturally, there is another, more serious reason for the treadmill's presence: Her voice coach said her lungs needed to be in shape to get the voice right."
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

The film looks wonderful, but it makes me kinda wish they'd just adapted the musical...
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

Drew & Jessica appeared together at the Golden Globes last night, working the red carpet together as well as presenting together. They both came across as total ditzes; perhaps they were in character?

I must have been living under a rock. I knew nothing of it's existence and never saw this thread before!
I just saw the trailer for this today while watching HBO during my snow day off from work. (and we dont' even have THAT much snow!)
If the writing and the acting live up to the "look" of the movie, this might be absolutely TREMENDOUS.
I am very excited to see this.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
