I am looking for a really, really nice expensive restaurant for a special family birthday party. After struggling to find restaurants I like in the theater district for years, I have finally decided to look outside it. Does anyone know of restaurant within 10-20 blocks of the theater discrict that is very fancy and suitable for a nice birthday party? Preferably, it would be between 10th and 5th avenues and 20th and 60th streets. Thanks!

I love Bobby Flay's Bar Americain as well. I also love the italian restaurant on restaurant row, Becco. It's not INCREDIBLY gorgeous or REALLY REALLY expensive. But they are relatively high prices and the quality of the food is also fantastic. Service is very reliable. Definitely make a reservation. It's one of my family's favorites. Maybe test it out before you decide on it, though.
WOW I guess I underestimated the possibilities of prices in NY restaurants...I guess I meant something more reasonable than those. I love Becco- I've been there at least two or three times. Does anyone know about Patsy's? And I know this isn't very expensive, but how about Joe Allen?

There's a restaurant across from The Majestic... on the corner of 44th and 8th.
I'm drawing a blank on the name (maybe someone can shed some light), but I've eaten there twice and quite liked it. Just a suggestion...

Robert Emmet's? I like it there, good food, nice atmosphere, and at the right time, you can get the place to yourself. Moderate prices, nothing expensive.

The one on the corner of 44th and 8th is Robert Emmets, as I said.

LOVE< LOVE< LOVE this place. and I live right across the street. Perfect theatrical party atmosphere, delicious french bistro food. The best. Updated On: 3/29/09 at 09:02 PM
I'm liking this Robert Emmett's place. My family is (unfortunately) extremely picky, and the only thing we can all seem to agree on is American and Italian. We all especially love Italian. Any Italian restaurants that you guys know of?
