This is NOT an endorsement. I am no fan of Trump's. If you analyze and track his history on social issues, domestic/foreign policies and campaign contributions from 1987 - 2011, however, you'll realize he is quite progressive on certain aspects: foreign intervention, healthcare reform, minimum wage, gay rights, etc. The problem is that he contradicts himself all the time and suddenly made this huge shift in his beliefs. Do you really think he's changed that much in a span of maybe two or three years? "
Yeah, I always found the idea of a Cruz presidency far more terrifying than a Trump one, for that very reason.

I agree. But I still don't want Trump as our president. And I have always liked Hillary. I find the manufactured hate against her as tasteless as Trump.

Nope, no video of this, PJ calm down, you're out of control. Ultimately what it comes down to is what PJ and Brian have made the thesis of their support, and that is the SC. Well done, A.

SF - I don't anything about a video, but this is being reported in multiple places - Cruz's wife being escorted out by security for her safety.
mar6411 reads like a security code, anyway, by Pj's post I expected to see angry crowds pelting her and her looking like she was in danger, where?

Ken Cuccinelli told me he cleared the way for Heidi Cruz to leave because of "all the people physically approaching her, berating her."

Absolutely. Same.
There are a bunch of unknowns associated with Trump in spite of any progressive stances he's adopted in his private life. Does he possess the temperament for the job? Could he even get along with the members of his cabinet and the other two branches of government.
Hillary, Cruz, and Sanders have operated in the public service sphere and know the rules such as the doctrine of separation of powers. In spite of Cruz and Sanders' extreme political bents, as well as Hillary's predisposition to snail-like change, each fully understands the sausage-making and cat-herding that make up parts of the legislative process. They also are intimately familiar with the vetting process that leads to judicial appointments at the federal level. Does Trump have the patience for all that "process"?
Trump is a man of considerable means who's accustomed to barking orders at others and expecting them to delivery the results that he's promised to half the planet. There's nothing about him that signals collegiality, compromise, patience, or a willingness to do any heavy-lifting himself if necessary. He's doing his level best right now to put on a good show. Could anyone here imagine his first few press conferences as POTUS? Neither Melania, nor Ivanka, nor Donald Jr will likely be in the frame as window dressing to deflect attention from Donald's empty suit while posing as Chief Executive. Let me put things in perspective, we're facing the prospect of Omarosa as Trump's White House Press Secretary and Newt Gingrich as his Chief of Staff.
This election cycle has very much scared the crap out of me!
I think the only way to stomach the hateful, atrocious and vicious events of this week, at least so far, is to take a deep breath, DON'T watch the RNC, and just watch the special satiric editions of the late night shows. I think they are all doing a great job exposing the petty hate speech, the unbelievable childishness, the atrocious lies, even to the point of mass hysteria.
Kate McKinnon doing Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Jay Pharoah playing TRUMPeMON in search of African American delegates, Trevor Noah doing a great job, even playing a Boko Haram delegate, the Passion of the Christie, Chris Hardwick...they are having a field day!
The main thing is we knew this Trump $hit $how was going to happen, all the sad, sad, players doing everything possible for a great event and luckily efffing up every day, and (like Idina.."Let It Go"...help make phone calls, volunteer, donate if you can. Voting, Voting, Voting in November has never been more important. It's also important to note that this is the first Presidential Election in over 50 years without the full protection of the Voting Rights Act.
This is an update on progress regarding the VRA from CPD Action:
We still have work to do, and it starts with restoring one of the most important civil rights laws of our time. Sign our petition now to tell Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act and protect voters across our country!
When the Voting Rights Act was gutted in 2013, several states wasted no time passing laws that disenfranchise voters. In the last three years, Texas, Wisconsin, and 15 other states have enacted legal barriers to voting. States have implemented restrictive voter ID laws, shut down polling locations, reduced voting hours, and enforced other horrendous tactics intended to limit access to the ballot booth for eligible voters.
The Texas voter ID law was passed in 2011 but was previously blocked under Section 5 of the Voting Rights. After the Supreme Court gutted the core provision of the Voting Rights Act, lawmakers wasted no time implementing the law, limiting the right to vote for more than 600,000 registered Texas voters, many of whom were African American, Latino, or low-income voters. Yesterday’s court decision protected the fundamental right to vote for hundreds of thousands of Texas voters.
And earlier this week, a federal judge in Wisconsin ordered the state must provide those unable to attain the appropriate ID specified the voter ID law the right to vote. Now, thousands of eligible Wisconsin voters who aren’t able to get the specified voter ID can vote, ensuring access to the ballot.
Voting rights activists, lawyers and community organizers were instrumental in making sure flaws in Wisconsin and Texas’ strict voter ID laws were exposed. But we cannot rely on the courts alone to protect our right to vote. The news from both states proves how important the Voting Rights Act is to protecting voters. It is more important than ever that Congress restore the Voting Rights Act back to its full power.
This will be the first presidential election in over 50 years without the full protections of the Voting Rights Act. Sign now to show your support for restoring it to its full power.
I can't believe Ted Cruz said "Vote Your Conscience" (it's the only thing he's ever said that is true)
Sorry if this ended up ranting.
From HRC campaign...I’d like to interrupt this week’s regularly scheduled programming of puffed-up Republican attacks for a special alert: You’re not alone in your disgust, Steven.
Washington Post (and others) report that the final three are Kaine, Vilsack and Booker. Perez is out, apparently. I think it will be Kaine.
A member of my family wrote today that we shouldn't vote from fear and therefore he was endorsing, anyone else. This is your target group Dems, it is important, and it needs to be talked about reasonably. Wish I could follow my own rules.
Keep bringing it back to the SCOTUS. Don't talk about the wall, or Muslims, or Mexicans, etc. Keep it simple. Most Americans favor marriage equality, and most do not want abortion outlawed. Most Americans favor voting rights. Assure them that the 2nd Amendment isn't going anywhere. We can't have a court that will turn back the clock to the 50s.
I prefer calling them cowards and freaks, sorry, I know I'm not going to win anyone over.
and introducing todays' a$$H0LE, peter theil, the worst kind of Republican imo, billionaire and rich enough to not give a $hit...a perfect cranky whiny fit for trump. the pandering continues...
Longtime LGBT activist Urvashi Vaid just posted "Peter Thiel is the new Roy Cohn."
Jon Stewart made an unannounced appearance on Colbert's show tonight and was effing brilliant. It should be all over youtube soon.
Was it the Jon in the woods bit?
Many of you may not like his politics but Peter Thiel is about a bright as they come. His book " Zero To One" is terrific. I was just very surprised he supports Trump in the same way that I am surprised by Trump's kids. How is it that someone who is such a nasty name caller and who sounds so stupid and uninformed have children who seem bright and squared away?
Peter Thiel is a vile, thin-skinned, Ayn Rand-worshiping, self-loathing homo-libertarian. Other than that, he's absolutely lovely.
PJ's comparison that Theil is a Roy Cohn clone is absolutely chilling because it's true. There's no denying that he is super tech intelligent and a pioneer in Silicon Valley.
He owns 10% of Facebook worth billions, owns Paypal, worth billions, and multiple venture capitalist companies. But when you get to his philanthropy (if you can call it that), he contributes to companies and then gets rewarded with stock in the them. Yelp, Linkedin, Friendster and many more. The dollars just roll in. His political contributions are staggering. He gives money to every Republican in Washington:
In 2016, Thiel became one of the pledged California delegates for Donald Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention, and was a headliner speaker on Thursday of Convention. During which he announced that he was 'proud to be gay'.[83] He was previously a backer of Carly Fiorina's 2016 campaign.[84]
Other politicians Thiel has contributed donations to include Rep. James E. Rogan, Don Stenberg, Sen. John Thune Douglas Forrester, Rep. Robin Hayes, Sen. John Cornyn, Sen. Elizabeth Dole, Sen. Lamar Alexander, State Sen. Dick Monteith, Rep. Lee Terry, Sen. Chuck Hagel, Rep. Dan Lungren, Rep. Bob Beauprez, Rep. Mike Simpson, Rep. Tom Tancredo, Rep.Mary Bono, Gov. Butch Otter, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, Rep. Nancy Johnson, Rep. Scott Garrett, Rep. Tim Johnson, Rep.Bill Thomas, Sen. Jeff Flake, Sen. Jim DeMint, Sen. Jim Talent, Rep. Denny Rehberg, Rep. Rob Simmons, Rep. Jon Porter, Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, Rep. Ed Royce, Sen. Susan Collins, Sen. Gordon H. Smith, Rep. Bob Schaffer, John Neely Kennedy, Sen. Norm Coleman, Rep. Mike Coffman, Rep. Eric Cantor, John Raese, Dino Rossi, Ryan Brumberg, Sen. Rand Paul,Randy Altschuler, Rep. Justin Amash, State Sen. Richard Tisei, Kevin McCarthy, Sen. Ted Cruz, Josh Mandel, and Sen.Orrin Hatch.[79][85][86][87][88][89][90][91]
He gives 10 millions dollars to Hulk Hogan for legal fees. This ba$tard only gives money for political favors, and to other "wealthy interests". He doesn't donate to any small health organizations, AIDS research...places that could use a little support. There are very few people that I loath, but regardless of Theil being gay, he is a true member of the "Lucifer" club.
Here is Jon Stewart's surprise appearance on Colbert's show last night. Brilliant.

Moses returns from the mountain.
PJ, that Cohn comparison is so eerie. Watching Thiel speak, all I could think of was Cohn’s clout speech in ANGELS, specifically the end, where he says, “I have sex with men. But unlike nearly every man of whom this is true, I bring the guy I’m screwing to the White House and President Reagan shakes his hand,” making it effectively inconsequential that he’s openly gay and spoke at the RNC, even if it’s technically significant.
