#850Clinton vs. Trump: The Path to Victory
Posted: 7/19/16 at 9:53pm

When is the last time any political figure admitted a simple stupid mistake? This situation which has become a huge negative could have actually been a positive if Trump  would have admitted the mistake, defended his wife, and simply joked about copying words by Michelle Obama instead of someone like Nancy Reagan. But that is not Trump or any of them these days.

When has a Republican or a Democrat these days ever admitted that someone on the other side of the aisle has had a good idea? Everything is so partisan that mistakes are only made by the other side and good ideas are only found on our side. So both sides go to great lengths to defend obvious lies and Washington leaders spend all their time trying to prove that the other side is at fault instead of tackling issues head on by talking and looking for solutions.

We are not involved in a World War. Our economy is not on the brink. But we do have serious problems to address- very complex problems domestically and internationally. Every one could be solved by people willing to work together. Instead we spend all our time pointing fingers and trying to convince a handful of voters, mostly in the middle, that it is more their fault than our fault.

I have been voting for 50 years this election. I have voted for each party about the same number of times as far as I can figure. I tended to vote for the person rather than the party because, like moderate Supreme Court judges in the past, you never knew how a President would react in a certain situation. I never expected Kennedy would take us to the brink of nuclear war. Never. I never expected a Texan to lead the fight for civil rights. I never expected a Republican to warn about the military-industrial complex.

The only reason those Presidents could make those calls and stand firm was because they could expect some support from people in the other party. What we have today gets us nowhere.

Who knows if he actually said this, but he probably isn't far from the truth. Trump will do enormous damage to their already damaged "brand."

Hell, Hillary couldn't even apologize for lying to the American people multiple times. Amazing how people are so much more interested in Melania's speech than Hillary under FBI investigation and lying to the country on numerous occasions.

WaPost says it's down to Kaine and Vilsack (w/ Perez as a possible wildcard, it seems).  My personal pick would have been Xavier Becerra, but he's clearly been out of the running for a while.

From what I've seen of the GOP convention, it has been a total disaster.  There has been virtually nothing positive, and nothing about policy.  I really hope the Dems learn from this and present a positive vision for the future.  They should avoid the easy option of simply bashing Trump; better to address him via debates, ads, and cable news appearances.

It's hard to imagine this going any better.  If form holds, Trump will discourage Republicans to where they don't show up in droves.  How are so many going to run with him at the top of the ticket?  Let's hope for some more bumbling tonight.  A little disappointed MSNBC is holding on to the Melania story.  Woulda thought the racial, violent, and hateful speech of some of the speakers would have resonated a little louder.

"One day this past May, Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a senior adviser to Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who left the presidential race just a few weeks before. As a candidate, Kasich declared in March that Trump was “really not prepared to be president of the United States,” and the following month he took the highly unusual step of coordinating with his rival Senator Ted Cruz in an effort to deny Trump the nomination.

But according to the Kasich adviser (who spoke only under the condition that he not be named), Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless:

Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?

When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.

Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?

“Making America great again” was the casual reply. "

So tonight was almost even better than Melania cribbing from Michelle!

In an EPIC snub, Ted Cruz entered to applause to give a speech that the Trump people and the RNC thought would endorse Trump.

But instead, he congratulated Trump on winning the nomination--and then stopped short of endorsing him, instead urging the delegates and the TV audience to "vote your conscience"--code for "Vote for your senators and representatives but don't vote for Trump."

The cheers turned to boos and Cruz's wife Heidi had to be escorted out of the convention hall by security before the crowd attacked her.

I was crying with laughter at the end of Cruz' speech!  Scorched earth is his policy! Very funny.

The convention is a total disaster.  Trump can either double down on his sexist, racist, xenophobic agenda or "pivot" and paint a false picture!

I've never been a doomsayer, but if Trump wins, my fear is that the nation will dissolve into near anarchy.  I'm still shaking my head at the staggering number of Americans who seem to swoon over him.  It's like a personality cult on steroids.  I'd welcome even Bernie Sanders over Trump.  There's nothing that Obama has done or Hillary could potentially do that would make the election of Trump a sane outcome.

"I would not worry about it, there is no way he will win. Anyway MM has been wrong about almost everything. I mean he wants to take guns away from the police. Talk about anarchy

People will call me crazy for saying that but I actually believe Trump would be far more left-leaning and moderate than many of you (and the general public) thinks. This is NOT an endorsement. I am no fan of Trump's. If you analyze and track his history on social issues, domestic/foreign policies and campaign contributions from 1987 - 2011, however, you'll realize he is quite progressive on certain aspects: foreign intervention, healthcare reform, minimum wage, gay rights, etc. The problem is that he contradicts himself all the time and suddenly made this huge shift in his beliefs. Do you really think he's changed that much in a span of maybe two or three years?

I'm going to bother and find this video PJ, I hope the crowd looked ready to attack her when I watch it.
