South Florida, you are being WAY too threatened by a scenario that is only hypothetical.
And no, Pence couldn't win without a lot of work.

I think that's SF's passive-aggressive way of saying that Hillary is a weak candidate and can only win against Trump, thereby implying that Sanders was the only logical choice. Give it up!
Well, how the **** does insisting that anyone else the GOP could feasibly run will undoubtedly win help anything?!
Trump dropping out doesn't erase Trump. If he does drop out, he'll stick around- and the replacement will have to answer for him having ever been there. He'll be around bitching and moaning and tweeting about it. His delegates shaped the platform. The RNC is a battleship and you can't just suddenly turn that around.
Wish I could feel your guys confidence, but I can't. I'm too depressed. I wanna run against him.
Nothing would surprise me.
Pence wouldn't have a chance against Hillary.
But if Trump exits, the RNC will pick someone with a bigger national profile, like Romney or Ryan, both of whom would lose. Rubio and Cruz would want it, but they would lose as well.
Basically, there is no one in the GOP with enough moxie and charisma to enter the race and win.
Which is why the ended up with Trump to begin with!
No he wouldn't. He is just not registering with anyone in any way.
PJ, who the hell would want to be the sacrificial lamb for the GOP, if they were to replace Trump? I can just see the Trumpsters hating and threatening the replacement candidate, not to mention that it would be political suicide to accept.
If he drops out, the Trumpers can't hate the replacement. But you're right: whoever takes the position will be a sure loser.
Short of going back in time to discover their spines last summer and putting down Trump immediately as well as establishing that maybe every hanger-on in the party shouldn't throw their hat into the ring, there's nothing the GOP now can really do to walk this back.
Someone has floated the idea of Sister Sarah as Trump's replacement with Cruz as her running mate...j/k
There's always Scott Baio.
I for one would be able to sleep knowing Charles was in charge!
Damn double posting!
Willie Aames would be his VP, right?
Am I missing something? Why would trump drop out?

Much of this is wishful thinking, but the way his campaign and the candidate have been imploding this past week suggest that anything is possible. He's been a caricature of himself since the conventions.
Donald Maroney, the Tumblr that combines Donald's face with Jenna Maroney's (30 Rock) words.
If Trump were to drop out (a long shot), he'd have to do so by very early September, to allow whomever the replacement was time to get their name on the ballots in all 50 states. There'd be a push from the GOP to nominate Ryan, but I think he's already looking at 2020, when he'll have the time to run a full campaign on his own terms. I can't think of anyone else that could win this go round that would actually want it. I think even Cruz would turn it down, again, wanting to wait until 2020. I suppose they could convince old Mitt to throw his hat back in the ring one last time.
Ohio Governor Kasich is in the middle of his 2nd term. Four years from now he'll be out of the governor's mansion ala Christie thanks to the state's two consecutive term limit. If Trump dropped out and the party bosses groveled enough, I could see a Kasich/Pence ticket materialize in a flash. I'm not suggesting that the pair would be that competitive but Trump is absolutely toxic down ballot right now. As other posters have suggested, I strongly suspect that Ryan, Cruz, and definitely Rubio are holding out for 2020 when Hillary/Kaine will arguably be much more vulnerable. By that time voter apathy towards Dems will have likely set in if history is a reliable guide.
A new flurry of polling data reinforces Clinton's convention bounce. She is +10 in a Fox national poll, and in other polls she is +15 in New Hampshire, +9 in Michigan, and +9 in Pennsylvania. Also, Kelly Ayotte is -10 in her senate race.
Stage Manager don't even try, I'm too deep. Anyway, with these latest polls it is obvious how November is going to shake out if things remain as they are. Does all the talk yesterday about him backing out scare the crap out of me, yup, we need this guy, be nice over the next few weeks Hillary until Adamgreer says we're safe in September.
Am I missing something? Why would trump drop out?
He'll drop out if the polls continue to show him losing. The one thing he can't abide is being a loser.
