Me? They couldn't dress her better than that? Or add a little damn pizzazz? Updated On: 2/24/08 at 09:07 PM
Her face just lights up when she's singing.
Love.
Love.
Love.
Loved it. She's so adorable.
She was fine, but they could have "set the scene" a bit more...maybe some little kids in costumes cleaning....and she definitely should have been in a princess gown!

Her performance was fine
The blame falls on the Oscars, they should have given her the princess dress and projected the scene behind her. I can imagine people who have not seen the filmed being very confused by the performance otherwise...
She was wonderful.
But it would have been nice to have more than just her singing.

She was pretty good, but is that song REALLY Oscar-nom worthy? I mean it was a bit overkill on the Enchanted noms. And over "Come So Far"?
But she was good enough to beg me to ask the question - is it too late to make Doubt a musical?

Ugg, does she gesticulate that much in the movie?

I don't know. I thought it was kind of cool for her. She lost a few years back, didn't get a nom tonight and then got to have the whole stage for herself. And she was singing live, right? It didn't sound perfect which made me love it even more.
I was expecting a big production number for some reason, but I just love Amy Adams so much I allowed myself to feel through her. She's my Brokeback Mountain, I guess.

I expected more from her performance - she seemed to struggle on a lot of those higher notes.
And I agree - for Enchanted, why not spazz up the costume a little? I mean, the dress she wore was beautiful, but it wasn't at all reflective of the film.
Yes, she does gesture that much in the film. Works PERFECTLY with her character.
As soon as my daughter and I saw the Gospel performance she said well that just blew Amy Adams away!
Now that took guts - singing solo with no visual or vocal backup. They are obviously saving the pizazz for Kristin, and the better song from ENCHANTED.
ETA: OOps - there are *three* songs nominated from ENCHANTED!

i thought she was great! it would of been more fun with better costumes and some fun staging but once again nother fault. she went ut there and did the best she cold with it.
It is just such a terrible song. Amy is beautiful, but it was just so drab.
I don't think it's a bad song, it just doesn't work well outside the context of the movie. I think THAT'S the song they should have spent the time and money on...because it made almost no sense the way they did it. "That's How You know" makes more sense out of context, yet that's the one they had choreographed and acted out.
I didn't enjoy the performance very much at all. She was cute, that's for sure. But I was bored and felt like it was a bit out of place. And yes, she did seem to be struggling with the high notes. I felt sorta bad for her.
I agree with some posters about her needing a better dress! Something like Chenoweth's Dress. Also, something like little kids as animals would have been some better staging too!
To me the song is too clever and more of a spoof than an homage to the old Disney tunes.

HA!
I think it's a lousy song too.
However, i do think she was delightful and i wish she could have sang "That's How You Know" instead of Chenoweth, who I thought was a letdown.
and I agree that "Come So Far" is probably better than all the songs nominated.
Didn't care for any of the songs from the movie.
I posted in another thread that she is from Castle Rock, CO. Our local news here in Denver just did a segment on her and her performance this evening.
Love the song (excellent mocking of the classic Disney animated films), love Amy Adams. Can't get enough of that girl, really. She has been great in just about everything I have seen her in, cannot wait to see her in MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY and most importantly in DOUBT.
