What a great review. I smell Pulitzers.
(And I agree!)
It's the finest review I've ever written as well as the most accurate.
Yep, this is one movie I want to see. And I haven't said that in years.
This movie trailer intrigued me..but now that Jordan gives his approval I really need to see it!
It's a really good movie. Not flawless, but incredibly clever and surprising.
Does Jesse Williams take his shirt off? That's the only way I'll go see it.
I always feel bad for Joss' staff--Marti Noxon was the best headwriter on Buffy, and Angel which I found to be ther better show was barely touched by him, Yet this movie (which is GREAT though not scary and I wish it were) is beingsold on his name.
That's show biz, kid.
Josh has a name and a following. No one has ever heard of the others, so why would the studios use them as a selling point?
I think I'd put this film in the same camp as DRAG ME TO HELL (which was "scarier" than this one) but theyre both technically horror yet tremendously funny and more satisfying in the horror genre than 98% of what's been put out in the past 5-10 years. And there were some genuinely cringeworthy moments in this. The "truth or dare make out scene" make me squirm in my seat, for one.
But it's the films third act that takes it over the top to that special "I'm ready to preorder you on Amazon RIGHT NOW so I can own you forever and ever".

just saw it! seriously... the last 20 minutes or so were just uproariously awesome... funny and scary...what i loved about this movie is that everyone is pretty much so damn likeable.. even the "villains" who had some of the best laughs... Bradley Whitford was awesome! and i guess it's a cameo or whatever so i won't ruin it.. but my audience kinda cheered for the director when she appeared.. haha... and i was happy too
oh and jesse williams reminded me of Wentworth Miller... and yes.. he did take his shirt off.. that whole mirror scene was pretty funny
and yes... that make out scene also made me squirm but it was so freaking hilarious!

Seriously, when I heard the voice of "The Director" before she appeared I got giddy. Like kid on Christmas morning kind of giddy and when she actually appeared I wanted to scream with excitement.
And that "I learned it from watching you!!" joke at the beginning almost made me pee I laughed so hard.
***SPOILER***
I was just sitting here and burst out laughing thinking about the unicorn.

that Unicorn was HILARIOUS!
the whole thing with the little Asian girls and the guy's reaction to them was just awesome!
HOW HARD IS IT TO KILL 9 YEAR OLDS?!?!
Audible gasps for the cameo at the end. Great movie!
Loved it! Didn't care that it's not technically all that scary. It's awesome and that's enough.
Just saw it. More Science Fiction + Thriller + A lot of camp than horror. But it was so entertaining - I wish most horror movies were this engaging.
Loved it.
Wouldn't say it's a horror film, per se, but it's hilarious and engaging. The last half hour alone is worth admission.
Question I want to see this but was going to wait to rent it because I am not a big fan of the "newer" horror movies(ie Saws, Hostel, all the torture porn movies). So my question is how gross is it? Is it like Psycho, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, Aliens esque or torture porn esque
Saw it last night and also loved it! Can't wait to see it again.
Violet...it's nothing like Saw or Hostel. Most of the violence is more tongue in cheek than actually disturbing. The first kill is a little gruesome (but nothing more gruesome than something out of the original Friday the 13th) but if once you make it through that you'll be fine.
The gore is along the lines of an 80s horror film, I suppose, but even then I wouldn't consider it especially gory.
ok Thanks...going to go see it this Friday
Now I'm really dying to see it!
