i know Pinky. that's why I love you.
Technically, she only has the crown until 10 a.m. tomorrow like the 180 people that went before her. BUT, she can always post her answers in the thread later. Once a celebrity, always a celebrity.
WELL... let me say that I am immensely honored. Man, I'm glad I have a 10 am deadline, because at least now I have some time to enjoy my celebrity status! I've been busy all day, and not to mention we had some pretty bad thunderstorms, so I was trying to stay away from the computer as much as I could.
Now, about those questions...
1) What did you do when they announced Cabaret was being revived?
To be honest, as much as I love the show, I'm not too sure about a "new" revival. Although, I think it would be stellar for Alan to come back, because, let's be honest, the man can pull off those tight pants rather well.
2) If you could spend one day with an "Emcee" who would it be and what would you do???
Ahhh, this is a tough one! I would probably have to go with Jon Peterson [he's my favorite!] Runner-up would be Raul Esparza [there's two for one! ]
I'm not sure what we'd be doing exactly, but it would incorporate a camera and possibly some really bad 80's power ballads.
What is your favorite scene in Cabaret?
Oooh another tough one! I have so many favorites, to be honest. I would probably say that the scene between Cliff and Sally, at the end, when he's telling her he's going off to Paris, and that she can meet him..."The truth is, Cliff, I've always rather hated Paris." It's one of those moments where you want to laugh, but it hurts when you do. However, the scene that really gets to me is the one at the fruit shop when Fraulein Kost has everyone singing "Tomorrow Belongs to Me". Every time I hear that song, or see that scene [on film or on stage] it sends chills down my spine.
But as far as musical numbers go, WILLKOMMEN, DON'T TELL MAMA, TOMORROW BELONGS TO ME, IF YOU COULD SEE HER, I DON'T CARE MUCH and CABARET are my definite favorites.
1) What Inspires You?
Everything. Honestly, I can't tell you how many sheets of paper I've gone through solely based on ideas that come into my head. My biggest inspiration has been Kander & Ebb's Chicago, and as lame as that sounds, it was the first time I had been influenced by a musical of any kind. Jim Morrison is also an inspiration for me. When I was in high school, I went through a time of feeling misunderstood, and while I could have donned black and listened to Dashboard Confessional, I decided to read Jim's poetry. His words are very deep, and sometimes hard to understand, but it's the feeling behind them that got me going on poetry.
2) If you can spend 1 day with 1 person (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you talk about?
3)
John Lennon. I think we'd have a grand old time talking about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
4) If you were putting together a scapebook of your life..what would be in it?
Pictures from my 15th birthday [the best day in the world]. I spent the entire day in New York City with my family, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. I would also include some of the poetry I wrote while I was going through "the dark period" of my existence, to remind myself that I can get through whatever sh!t is thrown my way. And I would most definitely have some programs from Ogunquit Playhouse, along with the photo taken of Jon and me from Cabaret.
What is your dream role in a musical (male or female) barring Cabaret.
For the longest time, I wanted to be Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. And in a way, I still do.
[Although, if I were a guy, I would kill to play the Emcee. That would be amazing... and I already know all his lines!]
What is the show you would most like to design?
The Threepenny Opera. I'm fascinated by Brecht.
How old are you?
Celebrating two decades.
What's your favorite book?
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
[I know, not very exciting!]
What's your favorite movie?
At the moment, it's Reefer Madness.
What's your favorite song?
For some very odd reason, I have taken quite a fancy to Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife". As far musicals are concerned, "Being Alive" from Company is one of my definite favorites. I associate a lot of what I¡¦m going through right now with that song.
Where do you intend to be in 5 years?
On American Idol, singing my little heart out.
Realistically, I would more than likely be doing the same thing I am now, except that I would NOT be working in retail. I would like to think that I'd be designing costumes, performing on and off, and finally, getting a chance to play Fraulein Kost.
If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?
Johnny Depp. I don't know why, but Johnny Depp would seem to be a reasonable answer. Seriously, wouldn't it be awesome if you were recovering from surgery and there's Captain Jack Sparrow lying in the next bed over, completely drunk out of his mind? I would have myself a nice giggle.
What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
What kind of pleasure are we talking about?
I would say my job at Ogunquit [last summer] gave me a lot of pleasure. At times, I wanted to quit and go jump off a cliff, but it was the most rewarding experience I've had to date. Being able to work with such fabulous talent gave me a lot of insight. I also have made some great friends because of it, and that's more important than any paycheck or tip.
What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?
I used to be a RENT-head. "Just kidding!"
I think most people are surprised when I tell them I wanted to commit suicide when I was in tenth grade. Most people don't associate depression with me. [I know that's more of a shocking surprise, but it's true].
Also, I don't think people realize how much I love to swing dance. It's a little passion of mine ever since eighth grade.
If your house were on fire, what material possessions would you grab on the way out?
I probably wouldn't grab any, because they're just material. I could always start anew.
Of course, if I had to try and grab anything, it would probably be the drawings my grandmother did when she was taking art classes in the 40's. She wanted to be a design student, but never got the chance, and her drawings are one of the few remaining things I have left of hers. I would also try to salvage her M*A*S*H book [that was her favorite show].

Hi PM! Sorry to bombard you with questions, but take your time and answer them whenever you can.
If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?
What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?
What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? And, that you were given?
What do you do when you need cheering up?
What has been your proudest moment, so far?
What is your best or favorite personality trait? Least favorite?
What would the child you once were think of the adult you have become?
What keeps you awake at night?
If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?
My mother would tell you that I am stubborn at times, very talented [although I don’t always show it off], and rather funny. I would trust her opinion more than anyone, because we’ve seen a lot of each other lately…and that may not be a good thing, but she’s my mom and I love her.
What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?
Travel. And I don’t mean traveling to another state… I would love to go overseas – to England or Italy.
I think I’d also try my hand at being a hairdresser. That would be fun.
What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? And, that you were given?
I think it was a white mouse hand-puppet I gave to one of the actors in Cinderella. Before that, he had given me a cupcake and a card because I had been accepted into college.
Recently, my two best friends took me out to dinner for my birthday, and spending time with them was an excellent gift.
What do you do when you need cheering up?
I put on “I Wanna Be A Producer” and dance around my living room.
What has been your proudest moment, so far?
Oh… this is a tough one. I have a few, so I’m going to break them down.
The first proudest moment was receiving an acting award for my role in The General of Hot Desire. It was the first time I had ever gotten recognition for my acting.
The second proudest moment was receiving my high school’s performing arts scholarship. Believe me when I tell you, we had an immensely talented group of seniors in my class, and I never felt like I was one of them.
The third was seeing my name in the programs for Ogunquit Playhouse. Sure, it was under “Interns”, but that’s an accomplishment in my eyes. We all have to start somewhere.
What is your best or favorite personality trait? Least favorite?
I love that how, all of a sudden, I can say something sarcastic. No one expects it to happen, so that’s what makes it so great.
My least favorite is my shyness. Even though I’ve improved since elementary school, it’s still there. I tend to get really quiet at times, and a lot of people think it’s because I’m anti-social, disoriented or uninterested.
What would the child you once were think of the adult you have become?
Why have you stopped enjoying the simple things so much?
And why have you stopped putting on shows in the living room?
What keeps you awake at night?
Sometimes it’s the thought of being lonely… but most of the time; it’s my cat whining to go outside.
The GREATEST av, ever!
Perhaps I will soon replace Streep for Lauper again!
Thanks.
I was thinking of changing it the other day, but there doesn't seem to be enough love for TPO on the board.

Great job, PM!
So, who ya gonna pick?
If you need help, there's a list of people who've already served in the first post.
I don't think D2 has had his day to shine yet, so I would like to pass the crown over to him. [He deserves it!]

Congrats D2!
I'm honored. Thank you. I think.

Oh yay!!!! D2 rocks! I'm gonna have to think of some good questions.
And I'm really happy PM got here to celebrate!
D2 - yet another poster I hardly know. That's why I like this thread.
If you will, complete the following statements:

If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?
Someone friendly but not too talkative.
What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
My writing and my relationship with my partner.
What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?
I'm actually very shy.
If your house were on fire, what material possessions would you grab on the way out?
There's very little I have that can't be replaced - I would just want to make sure that anyone or anything that's alive gets out safely.
Deet! One of my favorite posters! YAY on your honor!
Let's see...
If you could have rewrite any flawed musical, which one would you choose and what are some of the changes you would make.
Conversely, what musical do you think comes the closest to perfection?

Congrats! Just managed to get online for a minute. No questions, don't have time. Enjoy, Deeter!
Congratulations, D2. And in your honor:
Smile, though your heart is aching.
Smile, even though its breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile, through your fear and sorrow.
Smile, and maybe tomorrow,
You'll see the sun come shining through, for you...
Light up your face with gladness.
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near,
That's the time you must keep on trying.
Smile--whats the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just...smile!
Like I said, you deserve it, dear!
And now for some questions -
1) If you could spend the day with one writer [dead or alive], who would it be and what would you do/discuss?
2) What is your favorite score from a musical? Least favorite?
3) If you could take one memory with you, what would it be and why would it be significant?

Name a place that you’ve never been, but would like to visit.
PJ:
I am very busy today, lots going on here - but I will get to these questions and any others that might be posted) this evening.
Hi D2, and congrats!
If you were stranded on a desert island:
What ONE music cd would you have? (we're assuming you have a way to play it)
What one musical instrument would you have?
What one book would you have?
And:
If you were allowed to be any historical figure (must be someone 1900 or before) for a year, who would you want to be, and why?
How wonderful! Congrats D2! You have been so nice to me! I'm also looking forward to learning more about you. For now, my usual art related question- Do you have a favorite area in the arts, and if so, who is your favorite?
