I think so , dottie. do you still like Rachel Flatt?
Miss P, I was also thinking I wish we had olympics more often.
I really like Rachel Flatt. Is that a bad thing?!
I also give the male skater's extra points for having nice butts!
If we had Olympic Games more often, we would miss all the lovely anticipation.
I thought the medallists in the pairs were thoroughly deserving combinations. Well done to all.
No, it's good Dottie. I asked you about Rachel because I remember the night she first came on the scene with a bunch of new skaters, you and I both liked her from the start.
Whew!!!
Givesmevoice, I hear you. The Winter Olympics used to make me really nervous when Michelle Kwan was competing.
Oh, Dottie, tooshie scores! I like it!
I know, I'm bad!! LOL
Oh and shut up American Canadian Business Council commercial.
At least we don't have those commercials down here.
Dottie, you are NOT bad. We're all giving "Tooshie Points" whether we admit it or not! ("Tooshie Points"...I love that Hep!)
Gives, two years of anticipation is enough!
I like the Winter Olympics more than the summer. It's more "theatre," you know what I mean?
Jane, you and I bonded over the Winter Olympics in 2006, remember?
We have many opportunities to give those points, Miss P. Any fine examples for a perfect tooshie score to come in the ice dancing?
It was the olympics, Miss P? I thought it was the Psycho doll.
Pairs skating continues to be horrendously judged. I am reminded why I stopped watching it, completely. The top 2 deserved to be there, but 3 through about 13, didn't. I've never seen so many falls and missed elements get you in first place!
Jane, it was the Winter Olympics AND the Psycho Doll!
I remember distinctly that it was February.
You can keep your figure skating and downhill skiing. The Olympics start for real at noon today when the curling tournament begins.
NB: it's being broacdcast on USA Network.

This is only the second time [the first was Salt Lake City] I've been really following the Winter Olympics, but I guess it's a little more "theatre." I grew up swimming competitively, though, so the Summer Olympics are always a huge deal in my family.
The second Chinese pair actually won the free skate but the short program saved Shen and Zhao

The other day, NBC showed several American athletes admitting who was their 'Olympic crush'. Evan Lysacek's response was that he didn't have a crush, since he was already dating the hottest girl there. He was referring to ice dancer Tanith Belbin. The next respondent was Tanith Belbin, who had no problem admitting to having a crush on skier Ted Ligety.
I thought that Pang and Tong had the most beautiful free skate. After watching all of those other pairs stumble and miss elements, it was exhilarating watching their routine.
Also, madbrain, that's pretty funny!

Favorite moment of the coverage had to be Sandra Bezic's loud gasp during the overhead lift of Shen and Zhao. It was so real, unguarded, and unscripted.
I agree that that gasp was an incredible moment.
This is the first time I have ever had the opportunity to sit down and watch curling, and while I don't understand all of the rules I really like it.
Ok I'm dumb-what's curling?
It's the only Olympic sport where you can smoke, eat and drink while competing.
Well let's hope the pregnant Canadian curler isn't drinking and smoking.
Jane- It is on USA right now (and looking at the schedule they never have it on NBC which might explain why most Americans don't appreciate it).
From Wikipedia: Curling is a team sport with similarities to lawn bowling and shuffleboard played on a sheet of carefully prepared ice.
Two teams of four players take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones down the ice towards the house (a circular target marked on the ice). The purpose is to complete each end (delivery of 16 stones) with the team's stones closer to the centre of the house than the other team's. Two sweepers with brooms or brushes accompany each stone and use stopwatches and their best judgment, along with direction from their teammates, to help direct the stones to their resting place.
Thanks Jacob! Is it as interesting to watch as golf?
