Now I guess I'm interested enough to see it.
Great news about Brosnan! Yummy! Seyfried is an interesting choice. She's terrific on Big Love. Personally, I think it would be fun to have Rosie O'Donnell as Rosie in the film with Christine Baranski as Tanya.
How awesome would it be to have Benny and Björn write a new song for the film to try and qualify for an Oscar?
I'm very excited...

My idea about Sean Connery playing a new character, the real greek "old man and the sea" father suddenly became more attractive. Ok i know the manuscript is already written and Pierce would probably not concede that Connery is the greater Bond and alpha male. But still ...I wonder if Daniel Craig can sing?

Why are people saying "EW!"
What are you talking about?
I actually read that Brosnan had been cast, and I thought it was perfect.
This film is harmless. It's going to be fun. Brosnan will be fine. It's great casting.
I'm glad they are casting well known actors in this film...that spells success!
Not gonna get an opinion until the film goes out, but hopefully Brosnan will be great as Sam.

How about Cher as Tanya? Silkwood reunion!

SweMozArt, when I heard Pierce Brosnan had been cast, I immediately had the same thought!
I'll echo LouieLovesTheatre's comment: why are so many people getting their undies in a bunch over a film version of this show? I think it'll be a lot of fun. Just be glad they're still making movie musicals! This one has the potential for mass appeal, which equals $$$, which equals more movie musicals.

Cher would be ideal as Tanya
but yeah I'm glad about Pierce i can picture him as Sam
I'd watch Pierce Brosnan in anything :)
Any hope for gratuitous shirtless scenes with Brosnan?

In the beginning I really didn't care about this movie being made. Now, I must admit that I'm intrigued. Meryl is great casting as is Brosnan and Seyfried (those who have stated "ew" to the situation, if you noticed, posted in the beginning of the thread and have yet to return with any support for their remarks). This is a perfect movie for Meryl and Brosnan to lay back, relax, and just have a load of fun making. And for anyone who has seen The Matador with Brosnan (though two different roles, but still) they know he can have fun with a movie.
Who knew James Bond could sing?
Is Judi (M) Dench far behind ?
I'm gonna have to third the "Cher as Tanya"! I think it's an awesome choice to have Brosnan, he's so dreamy! Now they better get an ultra hot Sky!
Not a favorite show of mine, but I will see it to see Pierce. Such a big fan of his!! I grew up with his James Bond :)
Anybody complaining about the casting just needs to read all the "I wasn't gonna see this movie, but now I am!" comments.
Great casting all around.
I've nevr seen the show (have no desire to), but I'm looking forward to the movie because of the cast.
Agreed, the casting is the reason I'm going to see the film. Keep 'em coming.
Brosnan grosses me out. Even before he did The Matador, he always came off as that kinda guy to me.
Meeting Pierce was one of the most piercing moments in my life!!!
Charlayne, is that a good or bad thing?
"Cher would be ideal as Tanya"
Not on camera and not in closeup. I think the idea of Cher as Tanya is far more appealing than the reality.
Somebody said Goldie Hawn earlier. I think that would be great, Death Becomes Her reunion!
