I'd figure I'd be negative and start a thread about, not bad performances. No, I'm finding a better adjetive here. How about Pretty Awful Performances?
Well, let's start listing!
-Kerry Butler as Audrey in the Little Shop of Horrors B'way production
-David Ayers as Fieyro in Wicked
-Christina Applegate as Sweet Charity
-Matthew Broderick in The Producers film
There are plenty more, so let's get listing!
Hmm, not in the critical mood today everyone?
-Christina Applegate as Sweet Charity
-- please. Most agreed that even though her singing and dancing weren't stellar - her acting was WONDERFUL. Critics agreed with that too.
Don't we have better things to talk about - than to bash performers?

No offense jv92, but actors and shows are panned all the time on the boards about specific topics without a special thread like this.
Not to sound like a hypocrite, but it's just so negative to have it as an actual thread.

I've heard that if you don't compare her to Ellen Greene, she was fine. Vocally, tho, I highly enjoy her. Listening to her "Somewhere That's Green" right now, coincidently.
-David Ayers as Fieyro in Wicked
Ok, I can't say I've heard anything good about him. He looks the part, though!
-Christina Applegate as Sweet Charity
What ljay said.
-Matthew Broderick in The Producers film
Well, Broderick's performance on film was the same as his stage performance. I wouldn't call it AWFUL... just not nearly as good as his costar.
Although I am ashamed to admit it, I got free tickets to SC, and walked in there expecting nothing (near the end of the run) and i wanted to hate it, and diss her. But i actually loved the whole show. And it was actually good!, her singing got bettet during the run. Sounded nothing like the Cast Recording
David Ayers's performance made me want to cry, but I enjoyed it with my ears covered, because he is one of the hottest men I've ever seen on Broadway.
I don't get how David Ayers couldn't handle Fiyero. I saw him at NYMF as the lead in the musical version of Tom Jones and he was excellent, one of the very few reasons I didn't flee at intermission in fact.
David Ayers was fine with the acting, but I really disliked his singing.
I think Joey McIntyre was the best Fiyero.
Christina Applegate, in my opinion, was wonderful in Sweet Charity - her acting was outstanding, and her voice was strong. I think her voice entirely complemented her interpretation of the role, and I wouldn't say that any of the previous actresses to portray Charity have been the greatest of singers. Personally I prefer Chrstina's voice to Gwen's.

i love jenna malone on screen but she was a major flop in Doubt. The rest of the cast was way to amazing and she really ruined that part....sorry jenna but this role was not for you!

same here! i love christina!!!
Carol Kane in WICKED. Half the time you couldn't understand what she was saying.
She was just to squeaky clean to play Charity. I prefer Gwen Verdon. Don't bash me.
ick- Carol Kane was horrible. She didn't sing at all!
I think that Gwen is just better. I just dont think CA has a good voice on the recording. She deffinately got a lot stronger as she went.
Well Gwen is the ULTIMATE Charity, and always will be. The show was created for her, and constructed around her.
No one can ever top her. Check out my signature.
But I do think Applegate brought a nice touch to the role. She impressed me.
She gave all her effort, but she just wasn't good, in my opinion. I found it to be a bad performance.
Kerry Butler was terrible. I'm sorry. She just whined through the whole show. She's a fine singer, but I just didn't like her.
Taylor Dayne, AIDA
Randy Graff, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
Amanda Peet, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
Kate Reinders, GOOD VIBRATIONS
Tamyra Grey, BOMBAY DREAMS
Kerry Butler, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
Amy Whateverherlastnameis, LITTLE WOMEN
Matt Caplan, RENT
Lewis Stalden, THE PRODUCERS
Don Stephenson, THE PRODUCERS
Noah Racy (?), NEVER GONNA DANCE
Lead woman (?), NEVER GONNA DANCE
Lauren Kennedy, SPAMALOT
Gary Beach, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES
Mark Hammill, SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS
Leslie Uggams, ON GOLDEN POND
David Hasselhoff, JEKYLL AND HYDE
Steve Blanchard, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Matthew Broderick, THE ODD COUPLE
Agreed on Kerry Butler, it was a very bland performance.
I felt Applegate was great in Sweet Charity and the critcs were much too harsh, especially seeing that it was her first time out.
I felt Lisa Brescia was also pretty awful in Aida. Very boring and seemed too old for the role. Also I was not impressed at all by her singing.
I found Gary Beach amusing in La Cage, but hardly as good as George Hearn.
