That's OK Just a Girl, I'm currently reading "A Woman's Place", about 4 women during World War II. I took it out of the library only to discover that it's Christian Chick lit. Not that I personally have an issue with it. Actually, I was surprised because any other "Christian Fiction" I've read has usually been so poorly written and predictable, and this one is pretty good.

However, I just finished "Kensington Gardens".....absolutely fascinating. It's incredibly hard to describe..... It combines Peter Pan, the biography of JM Barrie and this writer who is the son of a 60's rocker, who's created a time travelling character who's as popular as Harry Potter.

"The Great Gatsby" (no, I never read it before! *embarrassed*)

"A Dance to the Music of Time" by Anthony Powell (almost finished volume 1 of the 12 ... this is gonna take a while!)

Oh, I LOVE Gatsby! I love when Daisy says "You look so cool. Yuo always look so cool." My favorite quote!!!

Anyways, I'm reading "Jane Eyre." Lovely literature, very interesting!

I really should start reading again. It's my favorite pastime. However, I'm not a fan of fiction. My preferred genre is non-fiction (i.e. memoirs, biographies, history, paranormal). Does anyone recommend something?

My literary attention span has really dwindled lately. I'm working on Raymond Chandler's THE LONG GOODBYE, but I'm having a rough time. I'm sure it is just a phase.

Just finished Middlesex, and A Confederacy of Dunces. Both were wonderful, but I particularly enjoyed Middlesex. It was a little bit difficult to get into initially, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. It ended up being one of the most beautiful books I've read in a while.

Now onto Emma, in an attempt to get through the complete works of Jane Austen before the summer ends.

I have never read Gatsby either... guess that should be my next book.

Taz... you are like the third person to mention Dunces to me in the past couple of days.

It's a really funny book. The main character is one of the most unique in modern fiction. And the book itself has an amazing/tragic backstory.

It's a fun read.

Dunces is my default all-around recommendation to everyone. Pure joy.

Middlesex: I felt like it was 2 different books. The first half was a masterpiece, then I felt like the second half was pretty mediocre.

I just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy and it just blew me away. I plan to read more of his stuff really soon.

After The Corrections, I'm going to read Rant (so psyched!) and then the new Michael Chabon, of which I forget the title.

I'm loving it so far. It's very humorous and a little on the absurd side. It's not your typical dysfunctional family novel. Very sharp.

I'm on a break from the "Thursday Next" series by Jasper Fforde. Right now, I am reading a book loaned to me by my boss called "Drawing Blood"...I'm only 4 chapters in, and I'm not totally hooked.

SM2, have you read Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer? It's sort of a true crime book about a man who killed his sister-in-law and niece because he thought God told him to, but it's also a history of the Mormon religion. Personally, I didn't know much about it before reading the book and found the whole thing fascinating.

I bought a few books today:

1) Summer of Night--Dan Simmons
2) The Black House--Stephen King/Peter Straub
3) The Drawing of the Three--Stephen King
4) Hannibal--Thomas Harris

I haven't decided which one I want to read yet.
