Susan Sarandon just sucked. I hate celebrities.
Why do you suppose Hillary won't debate Sanders in New York? Afraid of another standing ovation for Sanders?
In other news, things are getting wild in Arizona. I'm proud of the people of my home state not taking this lying down.

That makes 2 of us. I'm all for fairness. I'll be visiting parts of Maricopa County in a month.
Good news.
"Oh the Cheney's and the Maddow's can be friends."
The mo won't be hidden by lack of debate, there is a canyon of news between Wisconsin and New York, fun stuff.

How did she enter the conversation?

They'll gain life experience, possibly get married, possibly have kids, possibly own property, possibly start businesses, possibly have to layoff (or fire) employees, possibly get divorced, possibly have to provide elder care, etc. And that is when they'll learn that wishes and reality are not the same. I was under the impression that most folks figure it all out in their 30's but by all appearances there are some 50-somethings among us with latent development.

Let's just stop the idea right now that somehow Bernie Sanders' policies are an idealised fantasy, and that young people are going to 'grow out of it'.
There are many western countries with a high minimum wage.
There are many western countries with paid parental/sick leave.
There are many western countries with public health care.
There are many western countries with tighter restrictions on campaign finance funding.
There are many western countries with accessible college education.
Are you telling me it is not a realistic expectation that the most powerful, wealthiest country in the world should and could have these benefits for citizens too?
The USA is becoming so far behind that it is becoming a joke. And nothing is going to change this unless people do accept it and fight for change. The establishment system will ensure this.

Yes, I am suggesting just that. I'll send my defense of the claim to you via PM if you're interested. Just lemme know. What some call fear-mongering others call an abundance of caution.

I don't think that anyone that is Clinton supporter doesn't want those things as well, but guess what the President really isn't the person that decides all that.
Part of of our representative democracy is having the elected officials in the House and Senate working together to craft laws that make that possible. The President signs those laws into action.
The problem with the Bernie or Bust movement to me is that if he looses people write him and or even worse they don't vote. Many are acting childish that if they don't get this one man right now then they are fully prepared to just bring us all down.
With Clinton as the nominee and legions of people deciding that they would rather let Trump have the election well then there go ANY chance that we have at any of the things you listed above.
Now if the people in the Bernie or Bust movement took that passion to a state level, getting in more liberal reps in the House and Senate we might actually have some real change. Hopefully they will also now start paying attention their state reps as well so we can stop theses damn bathroom laws and threats to women's health that are popping up everywhere. The revolution Sanders is taking about has to happen from the ground up, but from where I am sitting it doesn't seem like people really want to put in the time and effort to do that.
So yes at the end of day I think that Hillary is the best candidate for President of the United States, and hopefully Bernie actually energizes and turns people onto the process, and we can start getting more liberal or least moderates that think. This isn't about just one vote for one election it's about everyone taking the time actually get involved and fix the whole thing.
If I were Hillary, I'd be pissed with her strategist Joel Benenson who, basically, told CNN on Monday that she would not agree to debate Bernie in New York unless he's nice to her. I don't think there's anyone tougher in this race than Hillary and Benenson is making her sound petty and weak. If the strategy is to avoid a debate with Bernie at all costs, so be it, but there could have been much better tactics than this - say that Hillary's busy campaigning and that they believe speeches and appearances will be more effective than another debate, but this was just pathetic.
Is this what she'd do in the general election? Refuse to debate Trump unless he says complimentary things about her in his campaign? Good luck with that!
Susan Sarandon supported Ralph Nader and helped elect George Bush.
The whole thing may come down to the New York primary.

I've been watching a lot of the rallies it's nice to see the white people and black people and latino people and gay people attending. But wait, I don't see any black people or latino people or gay people at the Cruz or Trump rallies. The seats are always filled in with young white kids that must have been bused in to fill the seats....

We may have our differences on the Democratic side, but they're nothing compared to the trailer-trash mud-wrestling going on in the GOP.
AND LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY!
The unrealistic expectation isn't about Sanders himself or his ideological plan. It's that he couldn't get much if any of it passed by the congress we currently have. He would be ripped to shreds with his uncompromising vision. So, yes, those expectations are unrealistic --- to believe that any of his policies would actually be put into play.
If you want Bernie Sanders as your president, you have to work to make an environment for him to succeed. That has to come first. You can't drop in a reformist president and expect him to "fire" or circumvent congress. It doesn't work that way.
Congress has to change first, then Bernie's plans, vision, and leadership have a chance.
Nader's support in 2000 did not sink the Democrats. Al Gore being a weak candidate who let the GOP smear him again and again and again with no forceful comeback might have been a factor. That and rigged polling in Florida.
Jason Linkins at HuffPo has a good overview of the Hillary/Bernie NY debate flap. Sorry, Bernie, a NY debate seems less and less likely.
And with Hillary leading by as much as 34 points in NY, there is absolutely no value to her in debating. Her strategy makes sense, but she really needs to get her surrogates and spokespeople off of this "Bernie needs to change his tone" nonsense. It's a garbage argument that weakens her position.
Didn't she agree to debate now?

Ha. Not quite. I know that's a headline from a Bernie press release, but that's pretty damn misleading. I dunno, it's nothing to get our collective knickers in a twist about. As the frontrunner with a huge lead in NY, Hillary is doing exactly what she should: avoiding another debate. As the insurgent trying to close that gap, Bernie is doing exactly what he should: pushing for a debate and trying to make Hillary look weak by refusing the offer. Once you're deep into a campaign, the only candidates who want more debates are the ones who are behind and the only ones who want to minimize the number of debates are the ones with commanding leads. I think Hillary may win this one by either continuing to refuse a NY debate or only agreeing to one the day before the NY primary when, presumably, most voters will have made up their minds.
Nader's support in 2000 did not sink the Democrats.
Of course it helped sink Gore. Look at the math: Al Gore and Ralph Nader together received 3 million more votes than George W. Bush.
Ralph Nader siphoned off progressive support from a worthy candidate who was not at all a "weak" candidate--that's just what the right-wing media and mainstream enablers wanted you to think, just like they want you to think Hillary is "owned by Wall Street." And you and Susan Sarandon and many others are falling for it, all over again, fools that you are.
Nader got $$$ from the GOP, just as conservative Super PACs have been paying for ads in support of Bernie.
That's how it's done. Don't think it's not.
The lack of transparency regarding her Wall Street speeches does make one wonder what she has to hide....

I love Bernie, I love his message and, yet, I don't give a **** about Hill's speeches. I have no doubt that she knows how to butter both sides, that's part of being a smart politician. I guess this makes me an "impure" progressive?
