To clarify, the original synopsis provided by the production did say, "...performed by a rotating cast of some of the funniest people on the planet." (emphasis mine)
Not sure when they changed the "performed by" to "read by." According to what's available on the wayback machine, the language was updated on the 'All In' website sometime between September 24 and October 1. (Tickets went on sale on September 30.) Even after the synopsis was changed to accurately reflect that this is a reading, the subheader on the site continued to promote, "All In is performed by..."
I hope the "performers" and the production impresses within the context of a reading, but you can't blame ticket buyers for feeling mislead, especially at these prices. What a marketing misfire. If I was in the cast, I'd be pissed that the pre-show promo did not appropriately set expectations. I suspect they'll be facing a lot of disappointed and disinterested audiences.
I was wondering how they’d get this up and running so quickly. Now it makes perfect sense. I love John Mulaney - I know many find him problematic, but I find him super funny. I also love “69 Love Songs,” so needless to say, I was all in on this-pun not intended. I spent $300 of my kindergarten teacher salary to see it next weekend and I’m soooooo disappointed. I’ll still go, but yeah… it’s a bummer.
Paying hundreds of dollars to see A-listers do a reading. Now everybody gets to have the experience of going to a nonprofit theatre gala! ...except you don't even get an open bar.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
It kinda explains how they're able to plug in varied -- and busy -- performers during the run. When they first announced, I was curious how they would accomplish the rotating cast of busy individuals, with such a tight schedule...but this explains it! I admit I mentally skipped over/didn't fully grok the "as read by" in the announcement -- as I'm sure many others have, as well.
Well this is a disappointing day! I’m actually flying to NY to see this in a couple days - paid $300 a ticket when they first went on sale. And also found out Cole has the flu so I may not catch them in Oh Mary! SMH.

Is this show produced by ATG? I’ve always found that company VERY GREEDY although they did produce many amazing shows.
I bought a ticket for around $200 and planned a day to come in from Rhode Island, and I'm pretty disappointed that it's essentially a staged reading. I love John Mulaney and Oh, Hello! was one of my favorite shows I've seen on Broadway so I was so excited for this! Obviously will still see it, but at these prices they really couldn't AT LEAST be off-book? Or move around a bit?
I saw it tonight. I was not a fan. John and Renee are definitely the highlights. John’s monologue in the beginning is quite good. I would not recommend.
So I already had tickets for this when we learned it was a staged reading and went last night with lowered expectations. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a series of short stories so honestly I can see why it’s not a play but a reading. More transparency up front might have been nice and yeah, tickets were pricey as hell, but it was a fun evening. I do love John Mulaney and the rest of this cast so i may be predisposed to a positive reaction but don’t be dissuaded from going if you think you can enjoy it for what it is. Mulaney is fully Mulaneying in this - his storytelling ability is unmatched as a standup and in a piece like this. I can’t imagine anyone else stepping into his role, though - it’s virtually written for his voice. Anyhow, if you already have tickets and like his work, go and enjoy while he’s in.

I felt exactly the same way. This reading (because that is all that this is) should have been a "Pay what ya want!" situation. It is the most overpriced thing in NYC at the moment and that's saying a lot. I wish that Dude with Sign bro on IG stood in front of the Hudson Theater nightly with your last sentence written on it. That would have been funnier than this sh*t.
I wouldn't recommend this to literally anyone on Earth.
This was FUNNY. John was barely "on book". Same with Fred. And the "book" eventually begins to feel like an intentional "gimmick". The actors are PERFORMING (ok they're sitting, but they are performing). It IS worth seeing. PLENTY of laughs. Did some people walk out? Yes! Their loss. Such a better evening of "theatre" than certain recent Tony winners (plays/musicals).
Holding the opening night "gala" on a night before everyone is distracted with holiday stuff...but holding the actual Opening Night--and specifically, the reviews--to the Sunday night before the holiday when people likely will be otherwise distracted seems completely fitting with how they've handled everything else. Just more subterfuge.
