I saw Linedy Genao go on for Gloria Estefan once. She was fine. This is, of course, a big deal for her... but sheesh. This will be a mess.

SO is annoying as heck and takes far too much glee in the failure of theater, but the pile on to someone who frequently caveats their "scoops" as they've been wrong in the past is weird. And given they've been sharing some pretty persistent mental health struggles, I do genuinely feel bad for them. They clearly have a passion for theater, if a misguided way of expressing it.

I’m thrilled for her. I don’t know her work at all but as theater lovers, can we just take a moment and be happy for a relative unknown actress who’s going to be staring in (like it or not) an enormous new Broadway musical from one of the biggest theater creators the world has ever known. It’s what literally every musical theater actor dreams of happening so for today at least, let’s be happy for her.

I think it’s pretty interesting they also had Linedy record the song in Spanish. I don’t think that’s ever been done before, having the broadway lead record the music in multiple languages.

I have empathy for them, with regards to their mental health struggles. However, perhaps people wouldn't "pile on them" as much, if they didn't behave in such a toxic and unpleasant manner. One cannot pull the kind of stuff SO pulls, and expect to be loved and coddled by the theatre industry.

Per the NYT, the show is being re-designed for Broadway, though it doesn’t say if that’s the same design team as London or if they’ll work with new designers.
