Surprised the director stuck around after all that controversy. I just hope they up the production value. It looked super cheap. And now it’s going up against & Juliet and Back to the Future.

I like a lot of the music and I would have liked to see it in London. I just don’t think changing the title to Bad Cinderella is a good idea. And since new songs are being written and the show is being redesigned it’s basically a new production opening cold on Broadway without an out of town tryout. The West End version received fairly positive reviews and a near rave from the New York Times. It seems like the entire production was scrapped simply because the West End production wasn’t able to survive Covid and Johnny Oleksinski didn’t like it.

....have you heard about Andrew Lloyd Webber? He literally ended up shelling out $1million+ to Patti LuPone after replacing her for Broadway simply because she got lukewarm notices in Sunset Boulevard in London. This is literally how his ego works.

That title... am I the only one who thought of an X-rated movie when I first read it?

I don't know the woman announced to play the lead, but she seems like a sweet person and I hope it works out for her and she lands on her feet!

I'm happy for ALW and Linedy (never heard of her before, but it's pretty exciting seeing a young talent getting her first big shot in what will be a pretty big vehicle)

As for the speculation of how it will look and feel, etc. - we're all just doing that, speculating.  I think the creatives had a lot of time to digest what worked and what didn't.  I'm doubtful it will be a massive overhaul.  Sunset from London to LA really only had the addition of "Every Movie's a Circus" and lots of tweaks throughout.  Having not seen the London Cinderella, just listened, I think there's a lot there that can be worked with, and am hopeful that's what the team has done.

For me, the fact that the new single of "Bad Cinderella" has revised lyrics bodes well.  Just having the "I'm 'Me Cinderella' " cut from the original made me happy - that always sounded well awkward is the best way for me to put it :)

It's not showing as "Cinder-ella" for me, but yes "Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bad Cinderella." Before at least it made sense to call it Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella because obviously it's not Disney or Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, but if the title is now "Bad Cinderella" it's obviously not either of those so his name being included is just ego.

Speaking of Miley Cyrus, that song Taffy posted would be rejected from a Disney Channel Original Movie. And it's jarring every time it shifts to that cheery music box melody. Who is this for?

This is gonna flop so badly and I cannot wait!

Anyone who thinks it was good has no taste and no standards.

Truly the worst show I’ve seen in 35 years of theatregoing.

ALW has proved time and time again he cannot see when a shows failure is HIS fault- so he will fire people/demand re-designs in the vain hope it will save his flop.

Broadway- I’m truly sorry in advance.

I don't know anything about the show itself outside of a [bad] review MickeyJoTheatre did. One thing that stuck out to me is where he said "All of the women in this show hate each other. Absolutely all of them". Still planning to check it out..I actually find the "Bad Cinderella" number kinda catchy lol.

See I know it initially got good reviews, but word of mouth was mixed at best. Looking back critics seemed to possibly give the show the benefit of the doubt since it was the first show to open after the shut down, similar to the warmer then expected reviews for the 2012 Broadway revival of Annie which opened just after Hurricane Sandy. 

On a different note, Deadline is reporting that ALW has written multiple new songs for the Broadway incarnation. I am pleasantly surprised that despite his reputation ALW  is willing to work on a show that initially opened to relatively positive reviews.

Decided to go line for line to look at the lyric changes. Bolded is the original. Only two of the verses remained untouched for this new version and most of the lyric changes are for the worse I would say. I know he likes to make changes to try to improve them but this seems to have done the opposite for most of the song.
