May I ask how the History Boys disgusted you? I mean I'm sure I can imagine why, but everyone has different reasons.

I mean, Denzel Washington? Gun to my head..of course.

Only shows that are really bad (awfulness factor) offend me

Other than that, nothing I have seen in my 40 plus years of theatergoing has offended me

The teacher(the young guy) is so weak to ever allow his brat student (played by Cooper) to challenge him like that is absolutely ridiculous. Any teacher should kick that brat's ass without one sec hesitation.

The whole sexual indication between teacher and student is disgusting and pretentious.

It's totally unbelievable to me.

A Year With Frog and Toad was extremely vulgar. It had so much profanity, I had to leave the theatre.

No one wants to see a musical called Thoroughly Modern Mildred.

We did not see The History Boys on Broadway but saw the film.

It was an interesting movie. Not the greatest but glad we saw it.We are dealing with a piece of fiction so one must suspend disbelief & just enjoy it.

Spring Awakening - Very well acted and performed, but if there's anything our generation doesn't need it's more sexual liberation. Talk about something we can't (or, at least, shouldn't aspire to) relate to in 2007.

Wicked - Only mildly, but the 1-dimensional portrayal of Boq as sad and pathetic (naturally since he's small) and thus short-fused and ultimately loveless and unloveable is offensive, but anything off-mark about gender or size always gets on my nerves.

Legally Blonde - I know it stems from the movie, but for a woman to decide outrightly, without a doubt, that a man must be gay if he does not immediately notice her is very indicative of the self-involved, ego-centric Cosmo-reading generation of 2000's women. You're not all that, honey. (Even though Elle kind of is but I'm seeing it on a more far-reaching scale.) An educated guess or thoughtful assumption would not have offended me, but the downright decisiveness did.

2010

Feb. 28 - Looped, Feb. 28 - Next to Normal, March 4 - Hair, March 11 - A Little Night Music, March 24 - Time Stands Still, April 6 - La Cage Aux Folles, April 10 - Anyone Can Whistle (City Center), April 10 - Looped, May 9 - Enron, May 15 - A Little Night Music, May 15 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Little Night Music, June 20 - A Little Night Music, June 23 - Red, June 23 - Sondheim on Sondheim, July 13 - A Little Night Music, July 18 - The Grand Manner (Lincoln Center)

MISS SAIGON. Vulgar and tasteless show, not to mention the blatant rip-offs of music from other more distinguishable composers.

Legally Blonde's conceit about the bend and snap offended you? Jesus god, get a sense of humor.

Sorry, but I do worry about a world wherein people take so seriously a magical body movement that automatically attracts straight males that they actually get *offended*.

It's a COMEDY. It's supposed to be completely ridiculous.

It doesn't mean you have to find it funny, but to find it *offensive*? You must have a bland life.

i've never been offended by any material in a musical or a play, but the concept of casting a show via a talent show where people vote seems a little tawdry.
Nothing against the winners, or the rest of the cast, but the idea is crass.

Kungaloosh - Legally Blonde is my favorite movie. Trust me, it's not the magical movement that bothers me. It's the weird way everything superficial was done on stage.

You can have a comedy without being ridiculous to the point where you kinda go "wtf?" And that's, agian, coming from a huge fan of the film.

Besides, where in the post was there anything about the bend and snap?

That song..."There! Right There!" Some people don't find it funny...we find it a bit too much..almost to the point where it's making fun.

But whatever. The bend and snap doesn't even have anything to do with it.

I am greatly offended by the National Lampoon ad I have been forced to watch repeatedly for days now. It's degrading to women for one thing. And it's certainly something I do not want my kids or anyone at work to see. Plus, it's distracting.

ROB, TAKE IT OFF! TAKE IT ALL OFF!

I think, "take it off" is the idea of the ad but flashing ads on the side panels are annoying. Can't we leave these kind of ads for Youtube?

I get offended from time to time but if I wasn't, I would think, I missed the message of the story. I think stories that are about abuse or prejudice are meant to be offensive.

I do like to know what I will be getting when I take a seat in the Theatre. I just read reviews and ask others if it is a story I am not familiar with. I always though made a point of seeing something with an adult theme before taking my children with me to a show. That is just being responsible. Yet, read the reviews if you are worried about that. It's just as easy to ask the Theatre ahead of time, if it is a serious concern for you. That is what they are for.

What bothers me the most, are people who go too far with censorship. I don't want to see abuse projected but I don't want to see it completely ignored. We have a responsibility to write stories about life. Life isn't always nice and pretty. If you want that kind of theatre fine go to those shows. I don't want others to try to censor theatre to the point of ridiculous either or take away my choices.

The King and I. South Pacific.

I don't care if they're classics; so is Uncle Tom, but that doesn't make it appropriate to portray in this day and age without a giant disclaimer.

I've never been offended, but I can often think "Gee, if I was ______ i'd find that offensive!".
There has to be someone who was offended by the Producers?
I know people were offended by rent!
Without a doubt, people MUST be offended by Avenue Q!!!

Another example is in Priscilla Queen of The Desert - The Musical. At one point in the show the words "F*ck Off fagots!" is written in graffiti on the side of the bus. Never, I mean NEVER, have I heard SOOOOO many people in a theater gasp in horror. Especially 45 mins into the show, after the word "cock" mentioned 7 times, 2 guys making out, 30 transvestite show-boys running around the stage dressed as Tina Turner and a group of guys with their shaved testicles hanging out of their cod pieces. I'm also assuming that most of the audience had seen the movie.

I wasn't offended at all. People need to be more open minded.

A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

I don't think I've ever really been offended by a play. But I came pretty damn close with Tony Kushner's Slavs. If you haven't seen it, I can only describe it as the scene where one woman describes to another what she wants to do to her sexually. I get that Kushner may have wanted to shock the audience with this. And my potential offense didn't come from the idea that it was two women. But yikes, does he have a way with words.

some people here need to lighten up. Really, why go see spamalot or the producers if you are easily offended? that is the point of those shows- to be shocking and to offend. And they are equal oppurtunity offenders. they don't just pick on one gender, race, or ideal.

I actually enjoy being offended, as weird as that sounds, becuase it challenges me to open up my mind, and not take things too seriously. I am against any type of cencorship, so when something off-color does happen to potentially offend, I get heated for about 5 seconds, and then just brush it off, knowing that I'd rather have the idea shared than it to be covered up to protect some people's (mine included) sensibilities.

- Put me in the group that agrees with that too.
