The BC/EFA flea market is dangerous for me. Last year I spent about 200 dollars on random paraphinalia.
Oh SOOOOO psyched!! So if Vanessa doesn't come out the door tonight or tomorrow night (I'm not even thinking matinee since that's a guaranteed no-go) I can get my The Year of Magical Thinking window card signed!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!
(Yes...I'm seeing it tonight and both shows tomorrow. Add that to last night and the previous total and it'll be 9 times ~ second only to The Vertical Hour which clocks in at 10. :) )

Thanks for all the info! And I had no idea ABC soap stars did it too. Awesome!
What time do those who have gone before suggest going to line up?
They make an announcement when you can line up so its not like if you get there super early you're at any sort of advantage.

I have a feeling I'm going to be like a little kid at a carnival and blow way too much money...
well thank you DivaBrigader....I think I'm going to try to go...so is it possible to stand in every line?

You can do the autograph line all day long if you so choose.
That sounds like a yes, but I've never been, so I don't know for sure.
I haven't done the line before, but yes, in theory if you've got $20 for every time, you can do it every time.

Thanks for explaining the line, DivaBrigader. I am sorry I failed to mention how it worked. You explained it perfectly.
As jordangirl said, as long as you have $20 for each hour's line, you could stay in it all day. That is what I plan to do:
$20: Broadway Flea Market Poster
$20: 11-12PM Line
$20: 12-1 PM Line
$20: 1-2 PM Line
$20: 2-3 PM Line
$20: 3-4 PM Line
-----------------------------------
$120 Total (Not Including Pictures- $10 each)
It's a lot of money to be sure, but the experience is PRICELESS.
I can't wait! I've been to the past two years and bought so many amazing things. I always end up spending hundreds of dollars. I just moved to a new apartment and need to pick up some things to decorate my room.

Besides doing autographs and pictures, what do they sell? Kind of jumping from 'Cape Twirl of Doom's' mention of decorating his room....

They sell more things than you can think of.
Posters, Playbills, marquees, theater doors, knick-nacks, cookbooks, opening night gifts, cds, dvds, scripts, costumes, set models, clothing, props...

Thanks Yankee.
That is ridiculous! I really wish I could go to this But I won't be in town in September..
And don't forget the homemade baked goods some have! :) The Toledo Surprise Drowsy had last year was yummy!!
Kind of jumping from 'Cape Twirl of Doom's' mention of decorating his room....
That would be HER room.
Well, I usually just stick with stuff from the table at the Majestic, but the goodies vary from year to year.
I will also be looking at the tables this year for a jacket from a production. The Les Miz jacket I got at the Phantom table last year dosen't fit. Since it is autographed by it's former owner (Hugh Panaro), I would never wear it anyway. Imagine my shock whan I found that autograph on the inner pocket.
Hugh told me a few weeks later that he'd originally planned on taking part in the flea market last year...I think he said he was going to be at the autograph table since, obviously Lestat wasn't going to have a table (my phone kept ringing so the conversation was sort of fragmented). But he ended up doing "Company" in Seattle which took him out of NYC just before the flea market. So he said he went through his stuff and donated a big box of things like that jacket to the Phantom table.

I have a question for people who've been before. When you pay for a picture with someone, does someone take it with a polaroid or can you take it with your digital? If you can do it on your own, does the person with the camera (ex. my mom) have to pay to go on line with you also? Thanks!
You can either take a poloroid or use your own camera. There are 2 different lines for the autograph line and the picture line. The picture line is usually a crowded mess because there are so many people cluttering it up and not buying photo ops, just looking at the celebrities. If you take a picture and are already on line, they will let you go off the line and back on when you are done. But of course every year, they try something different. Last year, it was at the new place that used to be Charley O's. The autograph line was on 45th Street and the photo booth was outside the restaurant in Shubert Alley. It was impossible trying to get to the head of the line for a photo. I've done this every year since the first flea market. One year they had the autograph table and the photo booth inside the lobby of the Minskoff Theater (upstairs). It was a great idea but with the Minskoff now having a tenant, they can't do it anymore. So in answer to your question: You can bring someone with you to take the picture. I definitely plan on using my digital. You get better quality with it than a poloroid.

I'm surprised that they use a regular polaroid camera. Isn't the quality on that pretty awful?
