going off topic.... did anyone see John Stamos in H2$ or Nine? how was in those shows?
and i was bored so i started rewatching season 4 of Smallville on DVD... and one of the guest stars was Nolan Funk... when his name popped up i thought... why does his name sound familiar... now i know! haha...
"Gina should be shot"...?
Harsh, much?
It's too bad that she's so terrible though. I love her and thought she was very good in BOEING-BOEING which I (and I know I'm in the very slim minority) thought was bland.

Why hasn't anyone commented on the staging of "How Lovely To Be A Woman"? The sight gag is gone.
Poor Gina, she is a great actress who has given some brilliant performances, its sad that shes miscast here, the worst thing is im sure shes really going for it. Maybe through previews she will improve a bit, at least some people are saying she acted the role well.
And to the ones who keep saying she a nobody etc. Shes in a broadway musical, broadway is looked at as a gay art form with a gay following. Gina is one of the biggest (and best) gay films (Bound) and starred in a film that has been held up as a camp classic (Showgirls)
Stamos said that they'd be some "major cuts" between tonight and tomorrow. I'm excited to see what they do!
Completely random, but does anyone know the accuracy of whether or not boxer briefs or "mid-length trunks" were invented by 1960, or if in any case, sold to the general public? I googled and came up with different answers. Maybe Conrad Birdie has a tailor or was setting some new trend...?

Instead of Rose looking like Margot before they pulled her out of Shangri-La they knew what happened to Baby Jane.
Did they change the year this was set, or is it just an anachronism? Baby Jane didn't come out until 62 and BBB has always taken place in the late 50s.

Not only did Conrad Birdie wear briefs in one scene, it was obvious that there was a bit of "padding" in those briefs.

This revival says that it takes place in 1960. Still doesn't account for the Baby Jane timeline, though.

Did anyone stage door? Trace...surely you did! How was it? Madhouse because of Stamos/Gershon? Merci!
It was insane. I guess it also did not help that there were a lot of parents there just trying to get their children. Plus, it looked like some of the kids had friends there as well, and they were trying to get backstage.

There was padding in all of his costumes, except the jeans (I was sitting very close, so it was quite obvious). The gratuitous briefs scene was completely there for purposes of beefcake only ... maybe to take away from the fact that Funk can't act, sing or dance to save his life.

As far as the song list goes, did this production incorporate any of the Mae songs ("He's Mine" from the Tune/Reinking tour, or "A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore" from the Alexander/Williams movie)?
No it did not. The only addition was the title song from the movie, which was the beginning of the curtain call.

There is a reason why it is considered poor form to review a show before opening night.. It is not yet considered a finished product. It is assumed that changes will be made and that the cast will fine tune their performances.
If we are all truly fans of the theater than why don't we show a little respect for others practicing the craft and give them an opportunity to complete their work on the show before we pass judgment. Also, if we want to see the Broadway Community continue to grow and succeed .. why don't we try and be supportive rather than jump at every opportunity to tear something to bits.
Oh my god, the padding was SO obvious. It didn't even LOOK real.

See, I've always considered that once you ("you" = the producers of a production) take my money, I'm allowed to review your product. I won't express a public forum opinion about a reading, a dress rehearsal, heck even if I saw a show on a comp ticket. But if I've given you money, I'm going to have an opinion on your product, even if it is just a previews opinion.
I find it interesting to talk about a production as it develops along. I'd actually like to go back and see the show, if I can, later in its run because it was fun and to see if it has improved. I will give them credit for all the automated features in the show and how they came off flawless for a first show.

And - ten dollar first preview notwithstanding - at full price!
"Stamos said that they'd be some "major cuts" between tonight and tomorrow."
I wonder what that means? I assume it means changes in staging/choreography, etc. Hopefully Gershon gets a serious vocal coach, asap.
I think y'all are retarded. The show wasn't that bad. Except for Gina, of course. Get rid of her!
I did stagedoor to get my poster signed by the entire cast and it was a madhouse, but everyone was extremely nice and cordial to the mobs of people waiting for autographs. John Stamos was particularly sweet (and he looks amazing).
The gratuitous nudity was SO STUPID and should be cut. Conrad should come out in a leopard print robe (fine, it can be open in the front), but he should NOT be wearing padded white boxer briefs and purposely spill the soda on his chest. Truly ridiculous. Also, when Gina is changing during "What Did I Ever See in Him?" she is wearing his sexy black lingerie underneath - also completely pointless.
The "How Lovely To Be A Woman" scene should have been staged better. Instead of Allie just wearing the same dress and cleaning up her Conrad memorobilia in her room, she is supposed to change into jeans and a tshirt and a baseball cap. I was very disappointed with the staging of this number (though her singing was quite good).

This thread is giving me a much needed laugh
That sucks about Gina Gershon, why didn't Roundabout get rid of her like they did with Jenna Elfman when she was on rehearsals for NINE?
Rosie is one of my favorite female musical theater roles. I agree that Andrea Burns would simply have killed in it!
Trace, did the leads take pictures? How was Gina?
