I’ve read this in a BroadwayWorld.com article and is quoted here: “The first national tour of Hello, Dolly! begins performances September 30, 2018, in the Connor Palace at Cleveland's Playhouse Square, ahead of an official opening night on October 5, 2018.” Today I called Playhouse Square twice, spoken to two different ticketing representatives who then asked their supervisors, and they knew nothing in regards to the fact that 10/05 was, or is, designated as the “Official Opening Night”. I knew that the National Tour shows started on Sunday 09/30, but wasn’t aware that following Friday would be designated something different.
Does anyone have any information on this? I’m already going 10/06 and wouldn’t mind going the night prior if maybe I’ll get to attend a special event.
dmwnc1959, I googled that phrase and it's from Theatermania, not BWW — but it is a little weird that ONLY Theatermania is the one that used that precise wording.
Does anyone in the know know when tickets go on sale for the San Francisco stop? I’ve called SHNSF a few times but am on hold and have to hang up before getting through. Busy signing up subscribers perhaps. Didn’t renew my subscription since I’d already seen most of the shows and HD is the only one that interests me. TIA!
So excited to see this on Tuesday!! I’m sad, as it’s probably the only tour stop I’ll get to see and I’m not ready to say goodbye to this production but I am so ready!
Here is hoping Betty is fantastic. I can’t believe I’m finally seeing her live!
Sent an email to Cleveland’s Playhouse Square Director of Marketing and got this reply...
Hi David,
Thank you for reaching out. I can confirm that the official opening night for HELLO, DOLLY! is Friday, October 5.
Never been to the “official opening night” of a National Tour, and figured since I was going up already, and that (hopefully) this show is worth seeing twice...
...soooo, I bought another ticket to see the show! Now I’m seeing it twice: the evening show on the 5th and the matinee on the 6th.
Looking forward to all of the reviews from Utica Tuesday and Wednesday!!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for the podcast with Betty post and the interviews with Nic and Jess post and Lewis' post. I couldn't be more excited. I leave Tuesday and will see the show Wednesday night in Utica. Staying with a friend. I'll report back!
