No way that was an audience member last night unless it was a hearing device or something back stage at one point it went louder and turned off. Agree they should of paused the show for a moment but everyone was having such a fun time

Sally Field was 66 in Spielberg’s 2012 Oscar winning biopic LINCOLN - Daniel Day-Lewis was 55 when he played Lincoln (11 years younger than Field). The real Mary Todd was 9 years younger than Lincoln. All historical accuracy is irrelevant when it concerns the fabulous Mary Todd. Joan Rivers woulda be a hoot as a replacement.

I think Joan might be a little stiff in the role, at least since 2014, when she died. 

But I think it's a fair call out to say that while an actor of any age could play Mary Todd, the role is intensely physical and so older performers would find the slapstick comedy a tad challenging. For example, the absurd bit of Mary being unable to get down from a desk requires a fair bit of agility. There are plenty of actors over 60 I would love to see tackle Mary, but many of them would probably alter the blocking a bit.

Thanks for writing a real review, Quisking! I've only been able to find stuff like "Betty is amazing, Betty is great " which isn't very helpful. Fascinating that it's so much faster. Reminds me of Patti replacing in Master Class and cutting off ten minutes because she spoke faster than Zoe Caldwell.

FWIW they took a few mid June performances off Telecharge. I have a ticket to one of these. I called Telecharge who called the theater who said the shows aren’t canceled but were taken down for “special performances” and that’s all they would tell me.
