Do you think many broadway stars will make comments on the piece and reports when they are released? I know Lea referenced it last week after the Telsey news and the word started to spread about a Times piece being imminent.
Dumb question: could (now-seemingly-arbitrary) 8:30 release time have meant 8:30 PM rather than AM? I mean, by now methinks the time is just is not in play any longer for whatever reason, but I don't remember that possibility coming up thus far.

I've never heard of newspapers announcing with such specificity when a story would be posted. Not sure why people always think this one is about to drop, especially when previous known times have passed without anything happening.

If you listen closely in SPOTLIGHT they mention how The Globereligion desk refused to deal with it, which is why it went to their special research area. I believe he is mentioned by name. (Paulson was the religion beat editor at the time.) Hopefully he will make up for lost ground with this opportunity (assuming there is some truth to all this.)."
As far as I'm aware, the story went to Spotlight team due to the significant time commitment/research required for a story of that size. Once the initial story broke after months of research, the team working on coverage expanded and included Paulson, who later shared in the Pulitzer Prize awarded to the team.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I had never heard of release times before this either, but naive little me assumed that people here would be insider-y enough to know. Good to know, though, I'll just keep checking
As I posted earlier this morning, this article was never being released today - anyone who says otherwise is lying or has untrustworthy/inaccurate sources. It will be released when the full scope of vetting, research, and the like is complete. I don't know who began this rumor of last Friday, and then today (Monday), but it's so ridiculous.
Broadway is pretty NYC-centric and those implicated could be powerful players or have ties with powerful players in the city and their lawyers are likely working overtime because once it’s out, it’s out. There are politics in news organizations just like anywhere and pressure could be coming from friends and foes alike. I’m not surprised to see this delayed again. It’ll come of course but my guess is someone either very wealthy or connected to someone very wealthy has gotten the publication delayed.
When I was given the 8:30 reference, it was back when we thought the info was coming out on Friday.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

This makes absolute sense. How in the world was Michael Paulson supposed to check out everyone's story so quickly? For a minute I thought someone might be filing criminal charges or something making it sort of breaking news and something would come out today. But if it's an exposé it could take a while.

THIS. Powerful people have powerful lawyers. Again all speculation. We still don’t nothing
Well, I think the people perpetrating the rumor of last Friday and then today are all identifiable right here in this thread unless they've edited their posts.
I think Lea Salonga's tweet is the thing that's made the article feel so forthcoming. Posts on here are pretty much meaningless, but she specifically wrote "for the next few days." That's at least why I've been anticipating it at any minute.
“@nytimes I'm saddened that you have caved in telling the truth about the sexual inappropriateness that is the belly of Broadway. #ShameOnYou #WeAllKnew #Complicit“
Of course the story is coming, and of course none of the public figures (or others) have any basis for saying when. This is how gossip and rumor got a bad name.
Might I also take this occasion to step back and suggest that all of the fury expressed in this thread is pretty sickening. Are we really only interested in the dirt now? This thread seems to have lost sight of the abuse that has been covered up for years, the effects of that abuse and the serious charges involved. Shame on everyone who only cares about a fake deadline that is frustrating their craving for prurient details.

what are you talking about? Everyone wants the article to come out so other victims feel safe to tell their stories. Nobody has mention the word “dirt” at all. Again we don’t know anything, is pure speculation at this point.
Gotta agree with wssinsider here. I am fairly new-ish to the theatre world and have no prior knowledge on abuse in the theatre world. This article would be a way for me to learn and understand what has been going on in an industry I love so dearly, and to grapple with where we as a community can go from here. Without an expose, the majority of theatre lovers will be left in the dark or only have vague knowledge of the (apparent) extent of this harassment. I am hoping for this to be published (and stressing over the rumored time) because I want so badly for the stories to be told. I want this to be exposed so we can start working to build a better theatre community for all. What may come off as callous "dirt"-seeking is really just a deep desire for the culture to change. This,so far, has not happened without a bombshell report like the one alluded to. This is much more than I usually write, but I hope that my perspective is better conveyed now than perhaps it was in previous posts.
@wss, that is not how I read the hysterical reaction here to the failure of the Times to publish at a time the rumor mill said they would but you can speak for "everyone" to your heart's content. For me, it is forest/trees.

I hear you. That’s why I said at this point is just speculation and rumors. Time will tel

Hitting refresh to get to read this story ASAP didn't seem like it was out of concern for the victims. I mean, whether their stories are told today or Friday is sort of irrelevant, as long as they get told.
