The Spring Break effect! Good at Mean Girls ant My Fair Lady at 100% for their first preview weeks, with MG at over $1 million. Did Cursed Child not even submit their grosses/attendance for those first previews? Even at $20-$40 on up?

What a start for Mean Girls! Harry Potter not posting their grosses makes sense for this past weekend, but I really hope they do in the next weeks as I'd LOVE to see those numbers.

That $154 average ticket for Mean Girls is pretty darn impressive.

Angels took a $200k hit this week as well. Holy smokes.
Average ticket price for Margaritaville: $55. Lowest of any show running on Broadway right now. Yikes.

I believe ANGELS had less performances this week, but I could be wrong.
That MEAN GIRLS number!! The average ticket price is less impressive considering most tickets hover around $100.

Angels did one fewer performance. Still pretty shocking to me it's not doing better, but this dip was only ~5% rather than the 20% the dollars make it look.

They also had their opening night last Thursday, which was likely all comps. Also, their average ticket price likely results in a large amount of lottery tickets sold. From winning last week, I'm convinced everyone that entered won lottery tickets. It'll be interesting to see how they do over the next few weeks.

Saturday's double header was also Press Day. So along with one less show compared to last week, they probably didn't make as much money as they could've made on Saturday afternoon/night with a lot of press/media in the audience (I assume they don't have to pay for tix?)

My initial surprise on results...how mixed Frozen did. Lion King beat Frozen on almost every metric. i see aftermarket prices for tickets to frozen at about $50 each.
Mean Girls CRUSHEDDDDD it!

Strange that HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD isn't included...

I wonder if they're gonna Young Frankenstein it and just never announce grosses.
I also wonder if Mean Girls might suffer as word of mouth spreads, although maybe everyone else is liking it more than I did (I didn't hate it by any stretch--just found it serviceable other than Grey Hansen who is remarkable).

Wayne Brady is giving Kinky Boots a nice bump on his second tour of duty.

Ugh, talk about wasting away in Margaritaville.
#20Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 3/18/18
Posted: 3/19/18 at 7:58pmI’m guessing that unless grosses improve dramatically, Escape to Margaritaville will post its closing notice first. Between lousy box office and bad reviews, it doesn’t really have anything going for it to suggest things will get much better. After that what do you think is next? School of Rock or maybe it’ll try to stay through summer when tourists with kids may lift its box office a bit? Or Spongebob although as HogansHero has mentioned Nickelodeon is more concerned with expanding its franchise than recouping which isn’t going to happen. Plus Spongebob has a chance at garnering some Tony noms (which doesn’t seem likely for Margaritaville) thus elevating its profile for future touring and regional productions so it may want to also stay open at least through Tony season to be more present in Tony voters’ minds as shows that are still open likely have a better chance at noms.

Spongebob is currently at 50% of its gross potential.
And at spring break.

I felt the same way after seeing it in Washington- Grey's "Where Do You Belong" was the best part of the show by far, though "Apex Predator" is also pretty decent. Too bad that it sounds like they changed so much other stuff for the worse.

I'm surprised given the poor word of mouth on this board how strong Carousel is doing. It broke the million club. That surely has to be over its weekly nut.

re Margaritaville, logically it should close quickly. The one unknown is how much money Buffett has in it, and how much he might be will to spend to avoid embarrassment and prep it for the road (where I think it will do reasonably). He is supposedly worth about half a billion so he can spend a few million if he wants to, and they can give away enough tickets to keep it from being painful for the cast.
re Carousel, it is certainly in the black for the week, but the demand metrics are weak. Right now it could go either way. It is pretty clear it is not going to be a blockbuster but it could be sustainable for a while. This is one that depends on reviews. The property is no Hello Dolly, and there is no Bette. The question is whether there is a Bernadette. It'll never recoup, and maybe we will look back on it and say it was the revival that taught us that almost all revivals belong at non-profits. Don't hold your breath.
