Excellent show. I hope it tours.

It's a shame it never found an audience. I find the "writing a musical by committee" a little too disjointed, but I liked much of this show. It was just about too many things.

Happy trails to the entire cast and creatives! That Tony performance was simply awful and it didn't change my mind to buy a ticket

It won't, but don't be surprised if this pops up at, say, Paper Mill or the Muny in around 5-15 years' time.
I was so pleasantly surprised and moved by the show, but they didn't know how to promote it and the Tonys performance was a bizarre song choice. Totally worth seeing for Justina Machado and Tatianna Córdoba if anyone's on the fence about going.

Very sad for the cast and crew.
I never understood the positive reception for this show on here, though. I thought it was a mess and that the Tony nominators got it just right by only nominating Machado (who was excellent) and the score (which was...certainly a score). It needed much more work before its Broadway bow.
It was certainly a small gem in an overwhelmingly crowded season, and it was a gamble that it made it to Broadway, but I am very sad because, with what exactly is going on in our country right now - especially Los Angeles - this is the story that NEEDS to be seen/heard/told.
This show speaks to us about humanity and community in a way that many other shows struggle. I’m glad we have a cast recording at least and I want this to tour and hit every area where people can see a story about people who look like them

Don't be ridiculous -- of course it will tour. The Weisslers are the producers. It may very well go out as a Tier 4 or 5 show (or maybe even non-Equity), but it will tour (and should do very well on the road).

It should do very well on the road? Based on its great numbers from Broadway? Personally, I found the show to be way too message-y. I wanted to see a show about family and a girl trying to live her dreams, not an infomercial for DACA and the immigration movement. Great cast and good music, but I thought the book let it down.

Yeah I'm not sure why anyone would think it would tour well...

You would think with these “broadway influencers” the actual reason to have them would be to work overtime spreading word of mouth for struggling shows that are good.
I’m not saying they’re the reason this is closing, but if you’re sitting at the Tony’s filling a seat that a broadway ensemble actor didn’t get to sit in- then maybe do your part and help struggling shows with your influence.
just my two cents. Word of Mouth saves shows. This could’ve had that

I feel like influencers just think their job is getting special access.

Eh. Word of mouth can save shows but a turnaround like MHE had is rare. Whether it was because of release during a really crowded time or just not enough interest, this show just couldn't connect with the general public. It had the review and its stans but it just couldn't gain a broader audience. Sad for the people who loved it but it happens sometime. It's not the first well received show to not find an audience. I think blaming influencers (as annoying as they can be) is not accurate.

To be clear, I’m not blaming the influencers.
It just would be nice if their existence was ya know- helping

I think the problem with influencers (and this is just my personal take) is that they're expected to be positive about shows since they have a connection with them, so they always just seem SO POSITIVE about every show that they talk about, to the point where I just don't trust their opinions and it just feels like another form of advertising. To be fair, I don't have specific influencers I actually follow and care about so maybe that's it too, but they always seem to gush in the same way about every show they see and it just becomes more noise rather than something that would interest me in seeing a particular show.

What I see is the polars:
The dead eyed fake sounding gushing
or
The overly critical jerks (some British) who think they’re Ben Brantley and don’t care if their influence could kill turnout
no one is ever moderate
Broadway influencers, for the most part, are just preaching to the choir of Broadway fans and, since they’re positive about everything, are just general shills for Broadway writ large. I really don’t think they help productions break through to ticketbuyers that aren’t already primed to buy tickets. Organic word of mouth and breakthrough social media seem to be far more effective.

Why do we need 'influencers?" We are just feeding into the dumbing down of the world. Only those who have zero brain power care about these shills.
I questioned the producing behind this from day one. There was no need to rush this in.
I didn’t particularly enjoy it, and found some of the praise a bit forced, but I’m glad it at least developed a fan base.

It’s in Bristol Riverside Theatre’s 25-26 season.

They really just didn't know how to market this show. I've been seeing the same ad for it on Pluto TV since that very strange (read: bad) Tony performance, and there was no sense of what the snow was about or even what it's style/genre/lane was, just that they were seemingly courting a female audience. Honestly, it reminded me of a promo I saw years ago for Menopause: The Musical.
I enjoyed the show, though not as much as some of you, and it’s admirable that the producers kept it open this long.
If Barry wants to flex his muscle it could certainly tour as a non-Eq. Remember, putting a show on subscription is different than Broadway where everyone has to buy individually.
The other incentive to tour: the show will face obstacles in licensing. It can only be produced in communities with an extensive Latin American population that performs. Any show with racially-specific characters faces this challenge. A tour will be its only substantial shot at chipping away at the capitalization.
Maybe it will get an Encores revival in 2050.
