I believe Some Like It Hot will win Best Musical at the Tonys given those involved. And it’s clearly a great solid show.

They can however secure priority loans which we have seen in recent seasons Bright Star and Gentleman's Guide do, which in the case of those shows either REALLY works out for you, or causes more damage
"

There is no "law" that prohibits additional investment. The only issues are what steps are required, what the offering and agreements have to say about it, and whether proper disclosure is made. It is not common because of the typical timing of the need for extra funds, which is why the priority loan approach makes more sense (and costs less). To call it "securing" priority loans is generally a little misleading because more often than not these loans come from producers or major investors either directly or via guarantees.

I’m not sure if you mean for regional theatre or for Broadway but I can think of about 5 other actresses who would be great replacements for Victoria Clark if/when she decides to depart. Julia Murney, for starters.

Kimberly Akimbo is probably the frontrunner unless they decide to vote for SLIH as that would likely sell better on your.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

It won't be hard to cast at all at a community/regional theatre level. You could also pad out the ensemble. I could even see some high schools attempting it, using a wig/makeup for Kimberly (not ideal, but high schools have done weirder things).

As American theatre involves into something more inclusive with specific roles for Trans/non binary folks and roles of specific races, that can present a big challenge when it comes to licensing around the country, because often the theatre communities don't have the talent resources that New York has. (This is also a systemic thing.) Easier for a high school in Wisconsin to do Something Rotten and cast it blindly instead of something like Paradise Square or SLIH.

And Juliet, on the other hand, will do GANGBUSTERS in the high school market whenever that becomes available.

Aw ACL. Take several seats.

Editing, erasing, or admitting you were wrong were your only three options there. I'm not your maid here, I don't owe you a code for anything, and you always post random lies because you don't do any research. You have never admitted to being wrong or making a mistake. It's a bad look but incredibly humorous. And one last thing?

Every year it's essentially the same race: The big, splashy musical vs. the small, artsy underdog show. And the underdog show typically wins (A Strange Loop, Fun Home, Gent's Guide, Avenue Q).

Kimberly is the one to beat.

But we've still got Shucked and NY NY.

As usual, you are being ridiculous with your Chicken Little "predictions".

And, interestingly, the love is typically spread around a lot more when the underdog wins. None of the 4 you mentioned got more than 5 wins and only Fun Home was the most-awarded musical of its season (Gent's Guide tied and something got more wins than the other two).

What's the point you're making? They still won and made a profit.

At this point, SLIH and Kimerly Akimbo are going to lose money until Tony noms. SLIH has the potential to rack up a high number of nominations where KA doesn't stand a chance to reach the same numbers just by nature of the production.

Kind of the first year in awhile we don't really have any for sure winners in the acting categories. Like, we all knew Lupone was going to win.

Bad numbers but many shows are opening this month, which will give Broadway that lovely boost needed.

Instead of being a bitchy queen, as always, you could have been nice for once and just posted the code. Especially since I did ask last week in the "Discount " thread and no one replied.

"

There is literally an entire thread where people ask this very question about discounts; the idea that one should not dare ask without first doing appropriate research first?

I have to always remind myself that offline, some people are so sad/angry/small in real life that they need to come here and spout off to feel powerful, worthy, in charge. Its sad more than anything.

Yes, $650K sounded low to me too. $850K sounds very much more like it. And I also agree that no matter how bleak the coming weeks may get, both KA and SLIH aren't going anywhere.

We need to stop pretending that Nathan Lane is a draw when there's not a star of equal or greater stature alongside him.

You left out '...and he is not in a musical'.  If an announcement was made that NL was returning in a new musical, people would be lining up.

I think you’re already on it, just like you’re also on David Stone’s payroll.  Either way you need to get some new material, as your current repertoire got old a LONG time ago.

Correct but Nathan has continually said he's done with musicals –– and perhaps the one person who could have convinced him to change his mind is exiled in Quogue. I've made peace with never seeing Nathan in another stage musical again. Or if he did do one, it would be for an ultra-limited run.

People are going to be really surprised when &Juliet takes best musical...it has more TONY voters in its Producing block then KA does....

Spring break season starts this weekend, and runs for the nest month, bringing us within a few weeks of the nominations, and hopefully to sustained warmer temperatures. That we only had this one notably bad week so far this season speaks that the current shows should sustain for the moment, and to the value of not having too much product open during the slowest weeks of the season
