The gross for Good Night and Good Luck at $3,784,028 is obscene. As is Othello at $3,120,321.

I predict Redwood will be a Labor Day closing.

Those are pretty dire numbers for a lot of shows here. I think the lesson is that consumers just want to see their favorite movie stars re-enact old plays (only kinda kidding).

I just had a survey about Redwood. It doesn't look promising.

Idina’s contract ends in July, and this show isn’t going to go on without her. Based on those numbers, it’s barely going with her.
BOOP is likely gonna stumble toward an early closing as well and REAL WOMEN needs a MAJOR boost and quick. I’m surprised FLOYD COLLINS isn’t doing better.
It’s clear that OLD FRIENDS is really just hinging on Peters AND Salonga and that either being out will tank sales.
I predict a Labor Day closing for Gypsy too.
Feels like plays are the way of Broadway’s long-term future. Luckily, there’s another exciting wave of Hollywood talent heading east next season.

Sucks for those of us that hate plays but love musicals.
New musicals will always exist. A lot of money to be made on the road and in licensing.
not too sure we can count Boop! out just yet......... looks like the decent reviews and word-of-mouth is starting to have a (mild) effect, and with the end of school year/summer vacations to NYC starting soon, i think this will have a solid few months at least

I'm surprised that Smash is doing better overall than Boop and Pirates given the general negative word of mouth (Boop's isn't great but still better I think), so I guess the TV show name still carries some weight (it's probably too early to see the impact of reviews, if any).

Redwood only has tickets on sale until 8/17. It's not making it to Labor Day.

It's interesting that Floyd Collins isn't doing well with Jeremy Jordan and Gatsby is continuing to do well without him. Maybe he's not quite as much of a ticket mover as it appeared.
Redwood and Gypsy will definitely end when their star's contract is up, whenever that is.

I saw a video of Idina telling a story about how she checks with the box office before the show to see how it's selling, which makes me think they are aware that it's perhaps not selling great.
Idina co-created the show and it’s been in the works for quite some time. She’s deeply personally invested in it and will see it through to the end.

Lots of subscribers at LCT for Floyd Collins.

They are very aware Redwood is not doing well. It's also hard to ignore with the house a third empty.
Using TDF, I had the same house seats - row G center - for Floyd Collins this week that I had for Flying Over Sunset. The lack of interest in this beautiful show startles me, since the initial announcement with Jordan stirred much interest - albeit in places like this. But Floyd isn't easy material, to put it mildly, and it has no track record outside of niche musical theater circles; the recording possessing a cult following (count me among 'em). Arguably Jordan wasn't the draw at Gatsby, the title is the brand. I still don't quite get the Gatsby success since it was rather poorly reviewed and playing in a large house. I've never talked to anyone who gave it a full-throated recommendation. .
Redwood Looks like a June 22 close, post Tonys. But May could be a tough month to survive, particular if the show is shut out of Tony nominations. I saw it from great TDF seats, but the buzz just isn't there.

What’s the factual basis for asserting that the word of mouth for Smash is generally negative? What you read here?

Do you realize how much money Gypsy is likely to make during the holiday season? It will not be a Labor Day closing.

The grosses for Smash were very good given that one of the eight performances was opening night where a large percentage of tickets are comped.
