Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/9/26

Happy trails to CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL, DEATH OF A SALESMAN, EVERY BRILLIANT THING, Liam Pearce, and Kirstin Maldonado.

The downward spiral for Wicked is insane to see. But I guess people are Wicked'ed out with the movie. LOL to people who say a movie helps a shows ticket sales.

Proshots may help more with ticket sales compared to feature films.

Wicked had the highest weekly gross in Broadway history thanks to the first film. They did help, but now the movies are out of theaters and out of the public imagination.

Incredible end of the run for Salesman at #1!

It's starting to feel safe to assume all of the following will close between now and early January?

• Two Strangers
• Six
• Great Gatsby
• Buena Vista
• Maybe Happy Ending
• & Juliet
• Just In Time
• Operation Mincemeat (?)
• UNKNOWNS: the staying power of Schmigadoon, Lost Boys, and Rocky Horror. They can't afford to dip much (and would benefit from increasing avg price and % sold).

Don't know about movie theaters in other locations, but the Six proshot isn't selling too well here in NYC. It's not going to repeat the Hadestown success. Six is the one show that can be fully appreciated by listening to the score on any music streaming without having to pay for a movie ticket. This show has run its course.

People (including me) have been predicting the death of Six and & Juliet for a long time and they keep hanging on so who knows. Gatsby could have stunt casting up its sleeve. Just in Time - it depends on if they have someone lined up after JJ. Two Strangers for sure will be done at some point this fall. I also do think Buena Vista will be done by January. Not sure what to make of Maybe Happy Ending.

I liked Rocky, didn't love it, and will never understand how this and Titanique has hung on and outlasted C:JB.

Now that an additional 5 principle cast members have announced they're leaving along with Luke at the end of this month, I wouldn't be surprised if they too have a closing far before the latest extension.
