The reconfiguration of the show for Broadway is the major hinderance that’s preventing the other pieces from falling into place, per a producer friend of mine who is currently being courted by the production. It sounds like the two spaces they are trying to decide between are CITS and the August Wilson (since it’s already been partially reconfigured)

4. I’ll bet that the Hirschfeld, Broadway, Horne, Lyric, Marquis, Shubert and probably the Sondheim and Kerr will be available and the Belasco will definitely not be. CITS depends on how long JG wants to stay. I went to purchase tickets for friends in November and was amazed at how well it is sold already.
5. I wonder whether Chicago may be getting near to its end. Grosses have been bad for quite awhile and unless they do some very effective stunt casting soon, they may be out of steam. Of course, that theatre is so awful that the Shubert org might be incented to reduce their charges even more, just to keep it occupied.
"
I don't think all of those theatres will be available but some could be. I think Hadestown, Harry Potter and possibly Moulin Rouge (and definitely Chicago) have run long enough where they'll have a long runway from announcement to closing. Something like Hadestown would announce a closing months in advance and then possibly extend, which is making me think we're running out of time this season for Hadestown to depart and get another show in there.
Stranger Things isn't doing all that well but Netflix has a lot of $ so I'd be surprised if closes up in time for a new show this season.
Gatsby seems to be slipping a bit so we'll see. Six is a big question mark of cost vs. performance. Although it's not doing great, it is probably the cheapest musical to run on Broadway right now (besides Chicago maybe).
I don't think the Belasco will be available either but I need to see how the show does post-Darren Criss to be sure.
Just in Time will definitely have CITS as long as Groff stays. It's just hard to know how long that will be.
I do think the Shubert will be available in 25-26.

If Groff stays with Just in Time for a year, then Cats could come in Summer 2026 (and ALW could get his revivals in different seasons assuming Evita comes in the spring).

To my (current) understanding from a cast member, rehearsals are projected to start in February contingent upon finalizing a theatre.

If they want to tour CATS after Broadway, it would make sense for the Broadway engagement to be in a proscenium house with limited modifications...

My optimism about Cats is fading with every passing week.

Moulin Rouge, &Juliet and Book of Mormon are all on the chopping block for winter-- running at a losses most weeks this summer.

There are a lot of shows on the bubble, financially speaking…go up & keep running or go down & close. Mincemeat? Hadestown? HK? Moulin Rouge? & Juliet? Great Gatsby? Mormon, like Chicago, is something I stopped trying to predict long ago.
And then things like Oh Mary which relies on star casting, and Just In Time which probably only exists as long as Groff wants to do it.

Starting tomorrow, with SUNSET closed, there will only be 28 shows running on Broadway. Mamma Mia! begins next week. There's a lot of empty theaters available this Fall and, at the moment, doesn't appear to be a lot of new shows trying to come in.

Book of Mormon is another one that I expect a very long runway between announcement and actual closing. The second they announce a closing, ticket sales will pop back up so they'll probably give themselves several months at minimum to benefit from that.

MORMON also hasn't attempted stuntcasting at any point in its lifecycle. Don't know who they'd go to -- the actors would have to be rather young -- but it is something worth attempting. Even 3 or 4 "Broadway names" joining the cast at the same time might perk up the ears of New Yorkers to give it another viewing, even if that doesn't make a huge difference at the box office.
The show will also celebrate its 15th(!) anniversary in 8 months.
As much as ATG must enjoy the income stream of Hadestown and Mormon, I'm sure they'd love to be able to program plays and small musicals into a house that isn't the Hudson.

CHopoing block for the delusional board members who think they know how this works. Book of Mormon is not included in this conversation but thrilled you think you had something here.

While Book of Mormon isn't gonna be one of those shows that runs forever like Wicked or Lion King, or for multiple decades like Phantom or Chicago, I still think it has at least another 2-3 years in it. It's certainly not going anywhere this season.

Why haven’t we gotten an announcement for the next show at the Barrymore? Isn’t it Cottonfield by Bruce Norris?

I don’t believe that either Proof or Dog Day Afternoon have theaters (announced) yet.

I think I heard someone a couple days ago say Dog Day Afternoon is taking the August Wilson…as far as Proof I would not be surprised if it takes the Barrymore

Weren’t those both announced for the spring? I’m wandering what’s coming into the Barrymore, Majestic, and Nederlander this fall
