With the Tonys over and the first show of 2025-26 opening this week, I wanted to start up a new thread similar to last year's that I did. Do we know if Mamma Mia is trying to run as long as possible or is it actually a limited engagement?
there's only 29 shows running right now. Mamma Mia! starts August 2. seems like there's a bunch of theaters that may end up empty for a long stretch.

The Barrymore, Broadhurst, Jones, Longacre, and Majestic are currently dark for the fall. I would say All Out will take one of these, but they haven't specified if they are opening in the fall or spring. Allegedly Two Strangers has the Jones, but they are hoping for another theater to open up. Cats may have the Broadhurst, but they are opening in spring, so it would be able to host a limited run (unless they need time to reconfigure the space).
For what it’s worth — CATS wants a theatre bigger than the Broadhurst based on what I’ve been told (by a more reputable source than an usher at Boop). I don’t know which landlord they’re working with, but perhaps the Majestic is in play there.

Oh how I wish we had Cats and/or Evita opening this fall. I'm considering a trip right before Christmas and it's not looking like there's that much I want to see.

I saw it in 2023. The choreography is worth the price of admission, but I couldn't locate the plot anywhere, so I doubt it's coming here anytime soon.
