I would go on unemployment as soon as you do your last show.....there is also organizational help...."
Unless the show officially closes and employment is terminated, you are not eligible for unemployment benefits. Similarly for other jobs, unless your employment is terminated, you do not qualify.

212 is all ofNY State. As of 3/11/20.
48 or so in NYC proper. (Up 12 from yesterday)
To be clear.

And to be clear to you, Westchester County starts right where the Bronx ends. It's extremely close to NYC as is Long Island. Read a map.

The number of people that usher interacted with (two different theaters!) is in the thousands. Crazy.

For those of us who don't have NYT subscriptions, did the article say anything about cancelling performances?

Both shows are expected to perform as scheduled on Wednesday night. The Shubert Organization, which operates the Booth, subjected that building to a deep clean on Wednesday, according to three people who were told about the measure. The Brooks Atkinson is operated by the Nederlander Organization.

No cancellations, as of now. They said the theater owners will address the issue directly by the end of the day today.

A "deep clean" doesn't prevent the infected usher from having spread it to the other staff members in the house, not to mention the hundreds of people he or she interacted with. As I've said before, the virus is asymptomatic, some people may never experience symptoms, but that doesn't prevent them from spreading it to others.

Posted: 3/11/20 at 5:05pmCan anyone confirm what dates the usher worked? I was at the theater on Wednesday so I’m hoping I caught the show before said usher was in There.

There are no dates mentioned, but:
The usher worked last week at performances of a new revival of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” now in previews at the 766-seat Booth Theater, starring Laurie Metcalf and Rupert Everett. Before that, the usher also helped manage lines one or more performances of “Six,” a new British musical about the wives of Henry VIII, which is in previews at the 1,031-seat Brooks Atkinson Theater.

I would expect all Broadway theaters to announce they are closing very soon. It kills me to even think about it let alone write it.

Besides the two productions, you have to take into consideration that people seeing previews are often frequent theatergoers who are likely to also see new productions around this time.

Sadly, this was bound to happen. Eventually either someone working or attending the theater was going to be infected/or a carrier.
Damn.

Interesting. Booth is a Shubert house and Brooks Atkinson is a Nederlander house. I'm guessing the usher is a sub? I'm not too familiar how it works to usher but I always thought regular ushers always work in the same house.

For Six, it says the person managed lines. Does that mean outside the theater before entry? If so, hopefully close interaction was minimal.

Exactly. Unless the theaters email people attending tonight letting them know or it gets picked up by every news outlet online, a lot of people attending tonight probably won't be aware of this. Yikes.

They should at least email all the ticket-holders and let them know the situation. Not cancelling the show is one thing, letting people making the decision for themselves whether to attend is another.
