I believe SF's rule gives them 24 hours. I think most are doing today's shows and canceling starting tomorrow. (or reducing capacity, if the rumors about the Curran are true)
And I just realized that SF Playhouse, 42nd St Moon (Gateway), and other smaller venues are under the 1000 rule.
I think they’re trying to figure out what the hell to do right now. This isn’t something that can be done on a whim, there’s a million things to take into consideration.

Once I confronted the inevitable, and called Telecharge last evening and got refunds on shows that I was planning to see late April/early May, I personally felt relief. At least now, I know what I’m working with—no trip. I can now start planning an even more fabulous trip for this fall. :)

Seeing three shows in two weeks and same. This may be the last round of theatre that I may be able to see in a VERY, very long time. But I am also not ignorant so I will suck it up either way.

We have tickets to Toni Stone on Friday. Apparently the Geary Theater seats 1025, so I wonder if they can reduce capacity?
I believe the main theater for Berkeley Rep is also under 1000. New Conservatory Theater Company had to cancel performances since they're in a government-owned building.
I'm a (relatively) young, healthy person, and I've been religiously washing my hands to the Punxsutawney Phil song (it's about 20-30 seconds). Seriously, though, I'm torn between wanting to support the local arts scene, and not wanting to inadvertantly contribute to a public health crisis.

True, so only time will tell. Because until we find out the number, we can keep playing this game all day. If the cap is 1000, then several Broadway theaters will be safe. If it's 1500, even more of them will be. And so on, and so forth.
Like others, I confess I am partly thinking selfishly. I do genuinely find it frustrating that so many careers and liveliness are being put at risk, but I'm also thinking about my own show schedule coming, and doing some of the math...
I have four shows lined up Friday-Sunday (my last Broadway trip scheduled until fall), so I too am selfishly hoping they hold out until past that if they decide to close, but I understand the reasoning. I'm basically keeping one eye on the news and my fingers crossed at this point.

Unfortunately this is true. Will likely find out about closures by the end of today. Cannot believe they are just cleaning house and letting the patrons in tonight.

Ha, I'm almost in the opposite camp. If this is going to end up closing the show, I'm wondering if I should go try to pick up a ticket tonight. Been looking forward to this production like crazy ever since it was announced.

If Broadway houses cap their houses at 500 that can work too in at least keeping the show open but whether that’s financially possible I’m not sure.
While this information may very well be true, can't we let the League or the theater owners handle the situation, with an official announcement and official press release...?
I just can't deal with the people on this board needing to be the FIRST person to spread "news" like this - especially with the climate of panic being in the state its in. In this day and age where the click of a button allows you to spread potential misinformation and cultivate so much fear and panic based on hearsay, it feels irresponsible.
I'm sure we will hear something soon.
Also (case in point) this thread absolutely needs a question mark at the end of the title.

From what I understand the virus can only live on surfaces for 12 hours so even without thorough cleaning, anything he or she touched/coughed on yesterday wouldn’t be contagious today. Of course, if the usher passed it along to other staff...
