I've never seen Marisha Wallace on stage and she's receiving raves.
As for the two emcees that are alternating who would you pick? Marty and David both seem to have a lot of fans and are great from what I've heard.
Who's your favorite of the two?
I'm surprised nobody has seen these 2 for advice?

If Billy Porter has sepsis, I have cocktails with Tyne Daly."
Aaand you and several others here are reeeeally showing just how low on the totem pole of humanity you are. Please seek professional help.

True, Billy was a curse to the production and now closing early.
Anyway, they updated the site with Marisha, Marty, David above the title so that's very professional on the producers part!

There’s nothing low about questioning or doubting what we’re told.

Oh c’mon, after Billy’s INSANE comments about Jewish people and the major backlash he received for his behavior and performance it’s perfectly natural to question his absence. Now he’s dropped out all together and the show is closing early. I absolutely wish him well and certainly hope he’s okay but it feels like he just needed to run and hide and they came up with an excuse to cover as best they can for this embarrassing situation.
JOHN KANDER deserved so much better than this mediocre production. I hope we get a great production of CABARET very soon to cleanse the memory of this one.
I absolutely loved this production.

I agree with you. At this point it would be revolutionary if someone mounted a production that reflects the 1966 Broadway original, if only to give an opportunity to those of us who weren’t alive to see it as it was intended.

Interesting to note thatJames Lorenzo Walker Jr. isn't just an investor in the show but a entertainment lawyer which makes this seem potentially less frivolous and with more merit then it otherwise might be"
Some of this suit may have merit but as for expecting any repayment at all, where was that going to come from? A $90 million gross vs a $26 million capitalization doesn’t mean any of that $26 million is available yet.I suppose he’ll see that if/when he inspects the books.
The people taking office feessuremade money from a flop though."
I read the entire filing, part of the argument is that the show was supposedly profitable for two blocks of time that were several months long but that investors received nothing. Most of the time shows pay out once the production hits a certain amount of profitable weeks in a row a small percentage and not just when the show is 100% in the black.
So this closing at 100% loss when it supposedly had almost 8 months of profitable weeks vs Sunset Boulevard, a comparable show paying back 60% before it closed is what makes this seem odd and the fact the lead producers are supposedly being difficult in supplying financial records to support their claims seems to be the big sticking point.
Additionally an argument is being made that the construction costs were inflated and the show actually didn't put as much money towards those costs as stated and that money might have gone somewhere it was not meant to go which would be fraud.

And someone with HIV getting sepsis sounds really scary so for Billy’s sake I honestly hope it is a lie."
That’s a very twisted and messed up thing regardless of how you slice it.
All lies (and I’m firmly believing the statement to be the truth) eventually get exposed. Knowing how much Billy has gone on over the years about his career struggles and how hard it was to get a job before his resurgence with KINKY BOOTS, I cannot imagine him throwing a grenade-level falsehood into his career like that.

It's more than a little ironic that you're acting so self-righteous about this, given you can't even get the circumstances right. An immunocompromised person suffering from sepsis is a health crisis, not "cyberbullying". You should be wishing him well, not wagging your finger at his critics (many of whom are wishing him well)."
Your selective memory has skipped over the multiple anti racist comments and TikToks rooting for his demise and removal from the role. Some of you may want to forget but the internet has many receipts. Try again.
Many, many people dislike this "immersive" staging (it is always unclear into what verisimilitude we are supposedly submerged, since it conjures neither Berlin in any era nor a compelling space displaying decadence or outre performance art; it just looks like a mauled Broadway theater with a Vegas club stage.) The elevation of the Emcee to event casting damages the show's storytelling. Yes, Cumming was given a spotlighted focus, but it paid off emotionally with the coupe de theatre that shook the audience in profound, historical ways. Here, the Emcee just fades into Nazi robotics. Cliff and Sally's relationship, once the centerpiece of the narrative, seems to stymy - or bore - the director, and it makes no discernible sense: missing are stakes, romance, or even a compelling symbiosis of two lost souls on the cusp of apocalypse. Everything is jettisoned for an "idea" that can't manifest as an audience experience. But to quote the Emcee, "Don't take my word for it, ask" the critics. I re-read them after I saw it, and understood fully all of the reservations. The word of mouth was never what it is in the West End.

It’s amazing how many of you can be evil to Billy but when someone gives you a taste of your own medicine you try and play docile. Cute but not buying or caring.

Last week, a black performer had to bow out of a show because of a recurring injury. Today, a black performer had to drop out because he is battling sepsis. And the same schmuck on this board doesn’t believe either of them. The same person continues to post, horrific, racist, hateful, ignorant comments on this chat board over and over and over. What are our moderators doing?

I’m not a fan of Porter. And to be honest, I had no interest in seeing him in this role because of his comments that turned me off. But I believe he’s sick and I wish him a very speedy recovery.
This shouldn’t be a hard thing for decent human beings to do.

having your performance criticized won’t make you septic. I hope that helps.

Thank you so much for not quoting the troll. The block function is worthless because posters constantly quote the troll. They are just giving the troll what it wants. You can express disagreement without constant quoting.
Some of the people in this thread were just lobbing bombs at Sutton's head a few weeks ago only to turn around and question whether a man with HIV is actually ill....lol I guess nobody knows kettle better than pot.

To be entirely fair, this is not the same thing. That poster has repeatedly been caught in some fishy circumstances

No it kinda is the same. The thing that led to Sutton being called out was her stepping far over the line in regards to that situation where Audra was followed by a fan. Just like it was in bad taste for Sutton to share where Audra was (allegedly) staying it's in such bad taste to do this "what are you hiding" dance about anybody let alone someone with HIV sharing a specific diagnosis with us.
As was pointed out above, they don't really have to say anything beyond "illness' so sharing a specific diagnosis with us frankly feels like trying to get ahead of this very conversation and, as annoying as I find him, I find it so sad that a man with HIV feels like he needs to share such details of his health with us simply so random strangers on the internet don't invent demented fantasies about him.
I feel like conspiracy has become so normalized in our culture that people don't see, you are being strange. A normal person would find the immediacy with which you look for conspiracy in announcement of illness to be strange. It is not harmless, it is not just conversation, and it makes you seem like a freak to people with a basic sense of empathy.
I don’t think it’s unique for more specificity to be included when a performer has to drop out of a production for medical reasons. It eliminates speculation and underlines the extraordinary circumstances. in this case, Porter had already been out for an unusually long amount of time- some further details were needed beyond a vague “illness.”
When the loudest voice backing you up is our resident Trump fanatic, you don't feel gross? That doesn't make you second guess the words you just typed out?

Comments he made like... 8 weeks ago and he's giving the same performance he gave in London that people picked apart, but it got to him 2 weeks ago and he decided to bail out. Sure, okay. I love the conspiracy of them coming up with an "excuse" for him. As if announcing a diagnosis of Sepsis and discussion of his other chronic health conditions is going to help his career. As if that's not going put a question mark on anyone wanting to hire him in the future as opposed to just being a diva and quitting if he wanted to. The producers sure as **** wouldn't have minded, I'm sure given the grosses. The closure was going to be moved up regardless of whether Billy was there to close it or not. You all sound Psychotic.

I can hear your point, Ke3. Thanks for your honesty and integrity. I do feel that Sutton has been dishonest on here often, and had burner accounts, but I do hear your point.
