Marisha deserved so much better.
I hope he will be ok.
And that suit doesn't seem to contain any bombshells, but I'm surprised they don't happen more frequently. I know there are frequently disputes with producers and creatives that go through various stages of reviews by unions and such. but surprised there aren't more lawsuits.

Yay! All the cyber bullying worked. Aren’t you all proud of yourselves? Billy’s gone and the show is closing early - exactly what you wanted. Curious who you’ll drill into the ground next.
Hopefully this will drive ticket sales for the last two weeks.
Sepsis is a potentially life-threatening condition and is extremely serious- I wish Porter well as he recovers.
Sepsis is no joke and, considering Billy is both HIV positive and diabetic, he is very lucky to have been able to survive it, since it can kill even the healthiest of people in a matter of hours.
Wishing him slow, steady, and restful recovery.

Can you please remind me who you were under a previous name? I forgot.
This board doesn't have the power to close a show but the producers really should have sooner as the show has been bleeding money profusely.

It's more than a little ironic that you're acting so self-righteous about this, given you can't even get the circumstances right. An immunocompromised person suffering from sepsis is a health crisis, not "cyberbullying". You should be wishing him well, not wagging your finger at his critics (many of whom are wishing him well).

Best wishes to Porter on a speedy and successful recovery and Marisha on a good rest of run.

Hey low life, wrong tree to climb here. I have one username and I said what I said. All you computer warriors think it’s cute til someone’s dead. You never know what people are going through and you spend your time on these boards ripping people over theatre. Get a life. Don't deflect. Own your collective piss poor behavior.

Are you ever not on some kind of high horse? This holier than thou attitude gets real old real fast
Really unfortunate that the remaining performances fall under Broadway Week’s 2-for-1 deal.
Say what you want about Billy’s performance (I myself have), but sepsis is serious especially considering his conditions. I hope that he’s able to recover, and that whatever his next venture is, it is more aligned with his skill set and is better received. I didn’t like his Emcee (nor some of the dumb things he’s said over the years) but he doesn’t deserve the amount of piled up vitriol that ensued surrounding an already lackluster production of Cabaret.
The production really should’ve issued a statement faster, at least when the sepsis diagnosis was made. It’s not something you just recover from with a few days of bed rest like a cold. Allowing a star’s nearly three week absence to go unaddressed with no official word is wild- it creates a vacuum of information.
Not surprised by either announcement. Hopefully, Porter is okay.
I agree with you that things got a bit intense with Billy but no one wishes him ill health and, despite my earlier claims, it does appear that this is indeed physical “The main drivers remain age, chronic illness, weakened immune systems, invasive devices, and recent hospitalization or surgery.”
Billy clearly has some complex physical issues that make it very likely they are the underlying cause.
I at least consider myself lucky for seeing Billy and Marisha twice in London, and I wish Billy well.

I'm glad I didnt ask you how the weather was as I couldn't even imagine how you would respond to that let alone this reply.
The minute you go below the belt everything else you say becomes null and void. Even more so when you start off a thread that way.

That’s assuming it was diagnosed from the jump, though. Billy could very well have been sick and tried to rest/recover for a period of time prior to the actual diagnosis. It can sometimes take days to weeks to develop while the patient is unwell. Producers were likely scrambling to explore their options in such a short timeframe in an effort to save whatever they could of the run.
Sepsis can be very serious. Some people, especially when older, can take months to fully recover. Whoopi Goldberg had sepsis in 2019 that kept her off of The View for months.

In someone immunocompromised, it does NOT take long to go south and quickly. Usually if someone is suspected of sepsis, they will immediately begin sepsis bundle treatment because of the time sensitive nature.
If anything, it could’ve potentially been a matter of him coming very close to dying and unsure if he was going to recover that delayed any message, as well as if Billy wanted the actual reason to be known (if he was even in a state to decide).
Do we…actually think Billy has sepsis?

Interesting to note thatJames Lorenzo Walker Jr. isn't just an investor in the show but a entertainment lawyer which makes this seem potentially less frivolous and with more merit then it otherwise might be"
Some of this suit may have merit but as for expecting any repayment at all, where was that going to come from? A $90 million gross vs a $26 million capitalization doesn’t mean any of that $26 million is available yet. I suppose he’ll see that if/when he inspects the books.
The people taking office fees sure made money from a flop though.

If Billy Porter has sepsis, I have cocktails with Tyne Daly.

TBH, after what I saw happen with Kevin Aviance getting Sepsis? I don't doubt it. Literally watched him strutting and full of life in his massive boot heels at 11:00 in the morning on like a Wednesday as I was leaving the Union Square station and then 2 days later see posts on Insta that he's in the hospital with Pneumonia and Sepsis.

Considering they could’ve gone the vague “unspecified illness” route, putting an actual diagnosis on the reason for departure would be a pretty bold thing to lie about.
I don’t want say that the sepsis thing is a lie, but I will say this: if I was giving a so-bad-the-show-is-closing performance in a Broadway show and was too embarrassed and traumatized by the public ridicule to step onstage again, I would absolutely make something like that up to save face and garner sympathy. And someone with HIV getting sepsis sounds really scary so for Billy’s sake I honestly hope it is a lie.
