I believe everything that guy is saying and it makes sense. No one is having big parties this year so the fact that Doubtfire said "screw it" is appalling.
That sounds about right. Come from Away is testing the cast and crew on site in the theater, creating a large exposure risk (not including allowing the band to perform unmasked, and play inches away from audience members). It's miraculous they haven't shut down yet.
I hear other theaters are having problems with cast/musicians not wearing masks when they are not on stage. I've seen the music director at Book of Mormon go maskless for most of the performance.
There are a significant number of front of house staff (ushers, merch, bar) that work more than one theater, and can spread the virus if it goes undetected.

I’m not saying that this is necessarily untrue, but I work at Come From Away and nobody I know gets tested on site.

Also, Come From Away has one of the strictest Covid managements I’ve seen. If your mask is down for more than a second to sip a drink, they will come personally make sure you lift it.
It's a crime that we are being subjected to so much nonsense. The democratic Governor of Colorado, Polis, stated my feelings perfectly. The vaccine is there. Get vaccinated. If you don't and die of Covid, it's your own fault.
Furthermore, the symptoms from Omicron, if you are vaccinated, barely rise to the level of being a nuisance. I have never walked into a theater anywhere in the winter and not heard sniffling and coughs from around the audience. When is the last time you fled a theater because you thought someone near you had a cold?
Because of the vaccine, it's a different world than before. Our response should not be the hysteria which, it seems to me, the media seems to want to perpetuate

I have to say in regards to COME FROM AWAY: I have seen a number of cast members, several on multiple occasions, en route to the theatre. I assume I live near several. They are ALWAYS masked, taking it incredibly seriously, several wear gloves. Perhaps they're all just really hunkering down and making sacrifices. Or maybe they've just gotten lucky....

Not entirely true. They allow several infractions veggies they even threaten to remove them, and once the show starts there is little to no enforcement.
I don't know the details, but I've heard on several occasions that cast members of The Lion King have been seen maskless on the subway. Again, I don't know who in the cast or any more details, but it's something I've heard quite a few times now.
I also think the Doubtfire party was ridiculously foolish.
I don't know. On some level, I don't think it's right to say they can't engage in "risky" behavior. If bars and clubs are open, they should be allowed to enjoy a night out just like anyone. It's a job, not a religion, no matter what anyone says (and believe me, I've probably called it "my religion" at some point). So, it seems impossible to expect them all to just tiptoe around, do nothing but go to work, etc etc. I know we sometimes see cringy photos of parties indoors, but again - if everyone is vaccinated, why shouldn't they be allowed to spend a night with friends.
It's a tough thing. And I don't think it's fair to put that on them. (Same for crew, pit, house, etc.) They are, after all, human.

I agree but they can't continue to perform and walk around the theater infecting hundreds and thousands of people because it's nothing more than a sore throat. That's not how it works and never will again.

Trying to be positive about all this, but considering the holidays and the social gatherings that are about to take place, cases are going to climb for the next month. Expect a lot of cancelled shows over the next 3-4 weeks.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Sutton, I get it. It is not how it works, your right. As a society we always try to prevent others from being infected, within reason. But Omicron is so contagious and the symptoms so mild, we may, in fact, be trying to put into place remedies which are like trying to prevent a common cold. It likely won't work, but fortunately, it may not matter.
It may simply be that in the future there will two types of common cold and one may be Covid O.

They haven’t gotten lucky. Wait about an hour."
Ridiculous that Jagged and Come From Away are not announcing yet, especially as we are nearing the supposed 7 PM show time for both.

I agree in the sense that they are humans, and if things are open and allowed, they have a right to live their life as they see fit.
However, I could see producers looking at the cost of cancellations and seeing risky behaviours as a huge detriment to the production, which could result in a show closing for good due to already shaky financials. It’s a tumultuous time, and I think they may be wanting to make decisions that protect the integrity of the show and jobs. It’s not an easy time to manage this.
I speak specifically of Cast and Crew, not sure how you manage FOH with the amount of shows they may bounce between.
I also feel there is a bit of a different layer to this, I mean we are talking thousands of people in an enclosed space, while the cast sing and project droplets into the air for 2.5 hours.
While I think the risk was negligible for mass outbreaks involving masked audiences, but with Omicron who knows. We do know the virus can stay suspended in the air for decent periods of time.
Twitter stans will REJOICE at the fact that Jagged, MJ, and Doubtfire are all cancelled. I'm sure the comment section will be filled with lots of love!
it appears Jagged Little Pill posted a cancellation on the doors. No social media post yet. Yikes."
That is BULL. Allowing everyone to travel to the theater from wherever they are coming from just to see that on the door? Surely a social media post would reach more people BEFORE they go there. Ugh. They need a better system than people arriving, in their seats, in the lobby, etc and then announcing things are canceled.

i don’t know for sure, but i would assume anyone who has tickets would receive a cancellation notice in their emails right?
