1. Cannot answer this one, but I'm sure there are several on here who have already watched the broadcast while following the original score and libretto. I'll let them answer that.
2. Individual body mics for all speaking/singing roles and area mics (on the soundstage) for the larger ensemble numbers and vocals.
3. No idea, but it certainly goes along with that more live, authentic feel and a nod to the original 1950s broadcasts.
4. The playback was piped into the soundstage. I do not believe any of the actors had in-ear monitors.

I swear (at least here) the meanest comments are towards peoples' opinions of the broadcast rather than towards the broadcast itself.
And I think "Middle America" is the most used phrase on BWW over the last couple of days.

I read in comments to the BWW article about Carrie Underwood's tweeting "Mean people need Jesus," that she was responding not to folks who had criticized her singing or acting but to vicious attacks, including death threats. I often find comments to news items, no matter on which blog, to be less accurate factually than "The Onion," but these ring true. Criticism is one thing, but vicious personal attacks, especially those that threaten or potentially incite violence, are out of bounds.
Nonetheless, "Mean people need Jesus," as far as I'm concerned, is not the proper response. I'm not sure why it bothers me, because if people are sending death threats, they clearly need SOMETHING. Perhaps it is the implication that Christians can't possibly be the ones making vicious comments, and it's only the rest of us who have the "mean people" in our midst.
By the way, Sue Storm, I know you meant absolutely no offense, and I'm not taking offense at your reference to "Our Lord," but this is not exclusively a Christian board by any means; I suspect that there are a fair number of agnostics and atheists, as well as members of non-Christian religions. (I, personally, happen to be a believer, but I'm Jewish, and Jesus is therefore not "my" Lord.) When you say "Our Lord," it includes everyone unless you qualify your statement with "Our Lord, for those of us who are Christians," or similar words. By all means, express your beliefs, but make sure everyone knows that you're talking about your own views, rather than proselytizing -- nothing will make people jump out of their skins, especially on this board, faster than an implication that their religious views are wrong.

Not true.
Suestorm is a widely acknowledged Internet troll. Her only purpose in life is to mean offense.
That is why more and more people are using the Block mechanism to neutralize her presence here.

Posted: 12/8/13 at 5:15pmI don't think Carrie's Jesus tweet was about her performance. People have been making death threats towards her and calling some of the children actors deformed and things of that nature. I mean it's just The Sound of Music. It aint that serious or deep! I mean do people even realize that "Sound of Music" is pretty much a remake of "Die Trapp Familie" anyway? Some scenes in TSOM are shot-for-shot similar to the German film.

Thank you PTOP your comments make total sense. You are certainly right this is not a Christian board and I met no offense to non jesus lovers, when I say LORD, I mean that to be whover you may beleive in which to me brings people together.
To each their own I say, if you believe or not is personal choice. I only take issue with those like FINDINGNAMO who are not only openly hostile to Jesus but also to all religions and famously and proudly mocks people of any faith as stupid enough ignorant idiots who are stuck in t he dark ages.

Sue did you see this?
"Suestorm is a widely acknowledged Internet troll. Her only purpose in life is to mean offense. That is why more and more people are using the Block mechanism to neutralize her presence here."
I mean, is he joking? You have offered thoughtful, honest commentary on this thread and many others. Then again, this is the same person who told us, strangers on the internet, to STOP commenting on HIS boards. Adorable.
Also, I would imagine Jesus is cool to some people, but I don't really think it belongs on a Broadway message board. But, respecting religions is certainly nice but certainly not expected on this board or anywhere else around the interwebs. Yes?

I saw it Sutton. Thank you for the kind words. He is just another angry member of the Mean Grls of BWW who bully everyone who is under 40 and new to the board. Isnt I t funny how they throw around the troll word but its only them that call people c**nts and taints and worse?
The word Troll has become meaningless here. To them its anoyone who doesn't agree with them and has a radical left agenda.
Poor Lisaheadbead. Those very people she has defended have often called her Troll cuz she dare criticize d obamacare.

DON'T SCREW WITH OBAMACARE SUE.
I'm just kidding, everyone can have their own opinion about anything they want. I also agree with you, and I love that you call them the "Mean Girls of BWW", it's fantastic. You're right, it really is anyone under 40, that is relatively new to the board (meaning we haven't been here since 2004), and who dares have a different opinion. I am blown away by people actually saying not to post on THEIR boards. This is a public board, anyone can post anything. The verbal abuse is repugnant but people who aren't kind on the internet aren't kind in life. Mean people don't matter, and caring what they think is just a complete waste of time.
I loved the show, it had many wonderful moments. I wish Norm Lewis and Kelli O'Hara starred in it though, they are both thrilling live. Have a great night!

When Jesus strikes the troll dead for making up things I never said, I will try not to laugh. I know more about the teachings of Jesus and comparative religion than that troll with the stupidest most ironic IDEAS knows about all subjects combined.

Posted: 12/9/13 at 3:07amI've read through all 25 pages of incredibly varied opinions[have not seen it yet in my country].I would like to ask if anyone knows someone in middle America who has never heard of Carrie Underwood[I hadn't until now],probably would never get to a Broadway show but watched the show purely because it was The Sound of Music. What did they think of it?

Yes, we all must be one person because we disagree with your opinions, stand up for ourselves, don't follow your dumb instructions (Grrr!! Don't post on my board!!) and don't allow you to run this board with your repugnant behavior. We totally just must be one person because there can't be more than one person in the whole world who would dare do such things!
You must all kill at parties.
I am grateful, however, that the nursing home where you all live provides internet access so you are able to write such A-MAH-ZING posts. That, I am forever thankful for.
Happy Holidays, you incredibly amusing sweethearts!

So NAMO in response to your post. Please enlighten us with your scary knowledge. Will you be honest and tell us how you think religion, Any religion is superstition and for naive uneducated people?
All anyone has to do is check any thread that includes the word Pope (Who you have said is responsible for spreading Aids and child abuse)in it to see your vile hatred of all religions and disdain toward anyone who as you say might as well worship a rock like a caveman.
There is nothing wrong with not believing. Just Man up and just admit it. Its no secret to anyone here.
The search button is NOT your friend.

I came to that conclusion a couple of weeks ago. So obvious.
