Really excited to see this cast...Ciara R is going to be a force to be reckoned with, and, while I'm not super familiar with him, from the bits and pieces I've seen, I think this role is a really good fit for Kyle DM. Also, just wondering, has it been discussed yet that Ciara graduated from college less than a year ago?? It's kinda crazy to think of the fact that she's done two broadway shows (including this one) in her first year living in New York...she has definitely got talent.
Your excitement came across--to hell with your spelling and punctuation--it's wonderful to see such enthuasiasm. It's people like you that keep theatre alive. Edit--my turn for a spelling mistake--oops!
I think they will be great- especially Ciara. I think it takes big balls to be the second after Petina (I feel the same way about who replaces Billy Porter in Kinky) - it is always a challenge to be the second, because you are following right in the original's footsteps.
Kyle Dean was absolutely incredible. Ciara started off a little tentative IMO but really gained confidence/momentum as the show went on and I ended up being impressed by her. The adorable new dog almost didn't come out when he was called, guess first night nerves got to him!
Kyle Dean looks really old in the pictures from the curtain call. I mean, not like ancient, just like a full grown man as a opposed to what I would picture Pippin as- late teens, early twenties, finding his place in the world. But it could just be the photos.
It remind me of SNL's sketch about HBO's Girls where the Lena Dunham character says she's 24 and Tina Fey says, "WTF?! You're 24?! Get your act together! Why do you have all these problems at your age?! Grow up!"
That's what the leading player and the audience should be saying to Kyle Dean Massey's Pippin. Would've been awesome if they had gotten an unknown actor.
