Billy Porter gets paid to play everything exactly the same. He’s like Mae West.
"

Spot on.  Doesn't porter always wear those flamboyant hats that block the view of folks behind him.  Defines narcissism

I had to turn it off after 20 minutes. The acting was over wrought and the attempt at humor was cringe worthy. It was overly directed and lacked an emotional core which was the biggest sin. I kept thinking….just bring on Billy Porter and let him carry the movie.

On the plus side I liked the costume design.

Someone should do a gay version of this story where a man falls in love with the prince.

You have been given lots of reasons here, none supporting your dumb thesis however. As usual, you ignore inconvenient facts. You know, a la Trump. Content analysis is usually a good tool, and "here" that would have led you to the answer. PS "Here"is not Reddit.

SmokeyLady,

Haha. I blocked Hogan exactly two months ago. His ego refuses to believe it though but I have read nothing that he writes to me. It appears he has been trying to get my attention/harrassing me for months from the quoted messages I see and pms I get but it's really just pathetic at this point. Perhaps one day he'll give it up and get a life? I guess some people just cannot deal with not being acknowledged. Usually these people are children, though. How bizarre.

And, once again, no one can give me a reason. So, my assumption was correct. Which is sad, but fine. Thanks, ya'll. Cinderella 2021 - Amazon Prime

Sutton Ross said: "There is no reason. He constantly has people from Broadway on his shows, gave money to the Broadway community during Covid, raised huge money with his video about Trump's last day for themand has had no controversies. Seems to love his family and be a respectful good guy. My opinion (because it was deleted last time) is LGBTQIA+ people hate him because he's a straight white cis male.Apparently he has no business loving theater? It's really all I can think of.I hope I'm wrong though because that would be beyond ridiculous. But, I've never heard a legit reason to hate the guy in all the years he's been successful. Like, show me the article that he sexually harassespeopleor verbally abuses his staff like Ellen did? Or says horrible things about Trans people like Randy Rainbow? You cannot because he doesn't treat people like garbage.Weird how those two people got passes around here yet James Corden who has not done those things gets insulted. For no reason at all.

Hmm.....

Agree 100%.

I was really disappointed at how underutilized this cast was in this bland, mass-market dumpster fire. The fact I only got five minutes of Billy Porter and then some narration was definitely a major letdown.

I honestly couldn’t help but cringe at how they took the anachronistic jukebox model of movie musicals and took a steaming dump all over it. This made “Moulin Rouge” look like Shakespeare and “Glee” look like “Hamilton” by comparison

LOL more lies from Sutton but whatevs. FYI troll, I have no interest in getting your attention even though we all know u have not blocked me but of course that is not anywhere near your biggest lies and I don't care to engage with a troll like you. I just don't like leaving lies and incorrect info unanswered. Some people are interested in accurate info. That's the folks I enjoy engaging with. BTW troll, you also messaged me that you blocked my PMs. Was that I lie too? I didn't check because, as I said, I don't have any interest in engaging with you.

3 thoughts about the film:

1) Was it South Pacific? No. Was I entertained thoroughly for 2 hours? Yes!

2) "We are a part of the rhythm nation" has been an ear worm since Friday night, that won't go away.

3) Idina Menzel can pull off the snobby, B**ch part extremely well...I'd be interested in a world where she plays Miranda Presley in The Devil Wears Prada musical.

Soooo. I was super impressed with the spin on the plot here. This was soooo much less contrived than what Douglas Carter Beane was trying to do. I really LOVED the step mother's justification for being bad.  I think I saw some of this in the most recent Disney adaption, but it here it is so well done.  Marriage is the best any of these women could hope for.

I'm tiring of every retelling having to be about fashion designers but this was a great twist here.  Massive props for tastefully updating this ancient story with real stakes and not forsaking it is a fairy story.

This will never happen (unless I win the powerball) but I would dump the Amazon songs and add in the far superior Rodgers and Hammerstein score.  Please tell me there exists an R&H trunk song about arranged marriage for the step mother.

Watched this tonight. I was expecting to hate it, but I had an absolute blast with it. It was ridiculous but I was grinning and cackling and jamming through the whole thing.

Beane did have a song for the step mother and step sisters early in previews: "I Have Loved and I've Learned".

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this adaption of Cinderella. Ignore the bad reviews, this adaptation of Cinderella is an entertaining jukebox musical. The story is still Cinderella, but feels fresh with it's music, choreography and dance numbers. Obviously you can't compare it to the Rodgers and Hammerstein verison, but would any young people even want to see the original version when they're used to the new musicals like Hamilton or In The Heights? It's refreshing that musicals are now undergoing a renaissance through all the streaming services.
