I love Katrina's take. Very beautiful, assured and gorgeously acted. Not sure it will sell tickets though. I think huge money notes sell tickets when a performer is on TV.

Patti sells tickets to a very specific niche that pumps up initial ticket sales. She couldn't sell tickets to Gypsy with a Tony win. It closed early on a limited run.

Not sure how the show will fare. It has always had limited appeal.

Ugh she's so amazing. I'll go a step further than most and say it's actually so refreshing to have a leading singing actor on Broadway who isn't screaming at the top of their lungs and genuinely uses the entire breadth of her voice to deliver a song.

I would love to see her become the frontrunner for the Tony. I’ve been consistently marveled by the work she’s put in since March 2020 to improve her performance and vocals. I think if the critics saw what she’s currently doing at the Jacobs, her reviews would’ve been different.
A cast recording would really showcase her progress. I hope its expected success at the Tonys will push the producers to make a cast recording.

100% a masterclass. She showed why she has a Tony already and why she got the part. Just breathtaking.

Yes, Anisha played the role in Act 2. Curious who plays the Bobbie double when Anisha in on as Joanne or Susan?

Add me to the camp of folks who would love nothing more than for Lenk to take home another Tony. Her performance in COMPANY is revelatory. I LOVED her when I saw her back in March 2020 at the second preview, and she has managed to somehow massively improve on a performance that I, personally, already found pretty darn close to perfect. In the words of many others on this thread, she is giving a masterclass for the ages.

The Bobbie double is covered by both Britney Coleman and Kathryn Allison. Kathryn stepped in last night. Britney was already on as Jenny.  All 3 female covers, once again, saved the day.

Agreed! Her journey as Bobbie is next level. Both Mary Me a Little and Being Alive are perfection. Katrina takes you on a journey from start to finish. I really hope she gets the Tony for this role. She is stunning.

That was incredible, and should show people how well she has settled into the score. She sounds fabulous.

I’ve been thinking of her “Being Alive” for weeks since seeing it.

Its too bad the rain got cut. Her adjustment from pure abandonment and embracing the rain to seconds later being utterly embarrassed was sooo good.

Yes, and as she showed during her "Bands Visit" Tony performance, the woman knows how to temper a performance for TV vs. stage. She is an impeccable actress.

Yes, it was contributing to the set malfunctions.

I saw her a few days before the opening and thought she was terrific, if slightly uncertain-sounding in a couple of places in the songs. Her "Being Alive" even then was strong and delivered the cathartic goods. But seeing this, she's added tremendously to what was already a fantastic interpretation. I'm pretty sure Clarke has the Tony, but I will be outraged if Lenk doesn't at least score a nomination to recognize her beautiful accomplishment.

I do wonder how many voters missed Clarke due to omicron, a short run, and her several absences.

A wonderful performance, I feel she has indeed strengthened in that number since I saw her. Too bad they didn’t do the full thing with everyone, but oh well.

I just hope that they put out a performance of Not Getting Married Today somewhere, I just want to see that staging and Doyle crushing it again.

I’m guessing, even though they already taped and put it out there, they’ll have Ladies Who Lunch as the Tonys performance. It makes perfect sense, it gives us Patti’s big moment while still letting Katrina be present (kind of a reverse of her last Tonys performance). But really, they got a decent number of songs that would make for a great performance.

I’ll be curious with how they will handle the Tony performance considering its looking like there might be multiple nominees in the cast. But I agree it will most likely be “Ladies Who Lunch” since Patti is the main draw for ticket buyers.

Rosalie Craig performed Being Alive at the Oliver Awards so I have to imagine Katrina would perform at the Tonys.

I think the opening number makes the most sense for the Tonys. It’s already been filmed, but it’s an upbeat catchy song that could sell tickets. It doesn’t feature Patti much, but I think it would make the most overall sense.

Ah. Didn’t realize that. Makes sense then that they might flow the same publicity path

Could they not do a medley where they do some of the title song and then have Patti do a couple verses of Ladies Who Lunch and the final money note? I think that would sell tickets.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I’ve actually wondered this too. I don’t really like Tony medleys but this might be the best idea, if they could find it a way to make it a smooth transition.

I just rewatched the video and purchased a ticket to go see it next month…I think it’s worth a revisit.
