So, Adrianne Curry (of America's Next Top Model, The Surreal Life and My Fair Brady) posted a few weeks ago (just saw it today) in her blog info about her auditioning and receiving a callback for a role in The Wedding Singer on Broadway. Is she up for HOLLY??? I honestly cannot even begin to imagine her as Julia...

Broadway
Current mood: accomplished

Haven't blogged on here in a while, but I thought this was blog worthy. Yesterday I tried out for a bad ass part in a Broadway Musical. (I will not reveal the name until I am given permission to) I thought it went pretty well. I woke up this morning covered in bruises from my dance routine, and sore as all hell. But it felt good. I haven't sang and danced in years. Not since swing choir, dance troop, ect. I didn't think I was the best, I am pretty green compared to me 8 years back. I gave it my absolute all, and now I'm getting payback. I recieved a call today from my manager that I will be flying out to NYC soon to watch the musical and to perform for the Big Heads the day after the show. I don't have it for sure yet, but my foot is in the door! I have never been so excited! I have called everyone I know, and no one is answering the phone! I had to share this news, and this was the best place to do it. I am flattered and floored that the casting directer and the choreographer think I am good enough to take this next step. This is so ****ing HUGE! Wish me luck everyone. If I get this, it will be the best thing that has ever happened to my career. I will be ligit. No one will be able to say I'm only talented in reality and modeling. I will get to show my acting/singing/dancing skills! YEAH! Plus, I will geto live in NYC for a few months. (Chris is already planning out how he will try to live 50/50 between the Big Apple and La La Land.) This is what I have been waiting for. Not many actors or actresses have what it takes to do Broadway. Some would kill to get a part. Please, oh please! I would just flip If I get this. I would also never look at a cigarette again. Boy, was I winded dancing and singing, and doing multiple rolls and splitz, ect.! Alright, I'm too excited to sit here anymore. I'm going to go roll around with my cats, Lucy in the sky with Diamonds (I call her Lucy D) and Sgt. Pepper.

Broadway audition

So, I went to see the musical last night and it was pretty damn good! I was pretty surprised. I say **** it, I'm just gonna tell you what one it was. It's The Wedding Singer the musical. They cuss, they rock, it was cool. The only other musicals I liked as much was The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Spamalot. I tried out for my part only an hour ago, and I have to say it went pretty well! I am shivering with antici (say it consta!) pation! The role was made for me, and though I am a little green with my singing ( nothing a few weeks of practice cant fix) I think I did excellent. So now it's sit and wait. That is the hardest part. I should know by this Monday. Just being considered for this role was huge enough for me. They flew me out first class and put me up in a Hotel for this second audition. That is basically unheard of in the business. I got one foot in the door, and I am dying to be let in. Wish me luck, say a prayer, whatever it is you may do. I would DIE to have this role. Well, I am going to meet a friend for lunch, and then I'm off to the airport and saying goodbye to NYC. I will be home late tonight, and will be off to Vegas in the morning. Holy ****, guess who just walked by me? Paris ****ing Hilton. Man, is she short! She has the same size feet as me too (11) I feel her pain. Believe it or not, I actually think she is quite lovely. Bye peeps, it's time for fun, drinks, and tons of travel!

NOTE: Saying Paris is ****ing short was out of the shock I felt to see her not as tall as I am. I always had the impression she was my height. Dont ask, I couldn't tell ya.

kuhnkrazy, you're totally right. It HAS to be Linda! (I don't know why but I completely forgot about Linda)

But now that I think about it...if she CAN sing and dance and act, like she SAYS she can, well then she is pretty much perfect. lol

We shall see...

Based just on that alone, it sounds like her dance audition was Linda's dancing during "Let Me Come Home", so I would say yes - her audition was for Linda.

I don't know her much but from what I know about her, she's pretty much a real life Linda... very rock and live every moment now kinda girl. I think granted she can sing, she'll be great!

Ugh. It's been open for 4 months and they're already reduced to this bullsh*t? Constatine was bad enough, but at least he has a legit background of singing/performing. Adrienne? Models are supposed to be seen and not heard for a good reason. Someone who's entire career/existance consists of reality television is nothing more than a name. Singing in an 8th grade show choir (and that being your only experience ever) is not qualification for a leading role on Broadway.

And using her as a "name"? She isn't exactly beloved even among the My Fair Brady audiences, so I can't imagine there's a huge population of tourists that would drop everything to come see her on Broadway. Unless they enjoy watching a trainwreck.

I have a feeling TWS is destined to repeat the exact approach the Grease revival took years ago, casting C-list celebrities in bit parts for "limited" engagements. What's next, Linda Blair as Holly?

okay...I have one thing to say: SHE BETTER NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE OF LINDA. That part belongs to Felicia Finley, and on occasion Nicolete. I hate to say this but I rather this show close with the original cast in tact before stunt casting people like Constantine and Addriane into roles that they do not belong in! All I can say is now I am going to try to see the show as much as I can before all the talent in the show is replaced by these models/american idols. I hope they never replace Tina Maddigan, she is amazing!!!

No offense, they don't care what you or I think. If Adrianne Curry can sing and do kalesthenics, the part is hers. I'm sure they're not firing Felicia, they just waiting to go out her contract.

However, even Adrianne Curry won't sell tickets. Not in a 10 minute part.

I could be the only one, but as much as I love and ADORE Felicia Finley, the prospect of this excites me. I LOVE Adrianne. She's crazy, she mumbles like no one else, she's annoying as ****, but GOD is she entertaining. And she moves REALLY well, so I imagine she'd be fantastic with the dance routine. No idea if she can sing, but in all honestly, Felicia doesn't really show off her vocals very much in this show. Linda is more about screaming rock chick than she is a legitamite singer.

I would just like to point out that Felicia still has a broken rib. She's a nut and continues to perform. If this is what she needs to totally heal and come back, this could be a good thing. Especially since I'm sure it will be a limited engagement.

Who the heck is buying tickets based on casting models and game show contestants? If this is what it takes to keep a show going on Broadway these days, it's pretty sad. If it comes down to a choice of casting these people in order to stay open, I'd rather see the show fold. And please don't start with the argument that this is keeping actors working. It's not because the actors are being replaced by game show contestants who have no Broadway credits.

The producers are on crack. I can't watch them replace these talented people who so diserve to be a part of this show. The cast is one of the best parts about TWS, IMO. It's not right that they try to stunt cast every freakin' part.

However, I do like how excited Adrianne is about maybe getting a part and understands not many actresses can handle broadway.

I'm not sure it's about Adrienne's box office clout. Even if Adrienne's prescence alone doesn't bring in a single extra audience member, you can bet that the Access Hollywoods, Entertainment Tonights, etc will feature Adrienne's first night. And if she's cast, Adrienne's PR people will send out press releases to all the print media outlets too. Think of all the free publicity for the show. The show's producers are probably hoping that consistent media coverage will save their show or at the very least decrease their financial losses a bit.

But the thing is, as I posted in the Constantine thread, they can't advertise her as "Starring." There are only 2 stars of the show, Robbie and Julia. They can't even do "featured" for Linda. She's not "featured" for longer than 10 minutes.

Ok, Constantine is one thing, first, he has a following and he was a very popular contestant on a TV show that is HUGE. But this girl is a total nobody, I feel like no one would go to see the musical because this girl is in it, plus she is a model. Constantine is a singer and has a musical theatre background, this is really ridiculous. Reading that blog makes me sick, saying that a girl(like Paris) who is 5'9' is short and assuming that everyone is 6'1' like Adrianne is, just silly. Plus talking about Paris "fu**ing" Hilton as if she was a great person. Please, what a shame, you can tell this girl is an airhead and not only doesn't belong to Broadway, she doesn't belong anywhere! Go to school Adrianne!

They are advertising Haylie Duff in Hairspray as "Featuring Haylie Duff." So I assume they would do the same for Constantine and possibly Adrianne.

No, they can't say she's starring in the show, but does that really matter? As long as they get free media coverage from all the cheesy TV shows and fluff publications, they'll be happy the show's name is exposed to the general public. In the early 90s, Marla Maples Trump (was that her name?) took a small role in Will Rogers Follies, and her opening night showed up on all the Access Hollywoods, etc. And if a small clip of Adrienne wearing tiny spandex shorts and grinding her body to rock music doesn't catch someone's eye, even for a few seconds, then nothing will.

Yes, the difference is that after all Haylie is a singer. Not a good singer, but a singer, and she is known. This girl is a nobody, I have never heard her name in my life, if you do "stunt casting" use a celebrity! not a reality show nobody.

You can't put Adreanne, Usher and Haylie together. Usher is a huge Grammy Award winning singer/dancer, who graces Broadway by joining Chicago. Haylie is a girl just playing a little role in Hairspray and she doesn't even have a solo in the show. She sings a few songs with some other members of the company. And she is after all, a singer and a celebrity. Then we have this girl who won a model competition.
