Sorry, double post.

Matt Caplan is leaving (Mark) or as i call him, Fat Craplan. Thank GOD he's leaving.
Sorry, just not a fan.
D'Monroe (Benny) is good.
Ava Gaudet (Maureen) is good, enough. She sorta looks like Idina.
Antoinique Smith, or her understudy, Karmine Alers (Mimi) are good.
I mean, the cast is ok. Not like, extremely strong, but you could go see it and not have your vison ruined forever... I guess.

Matt Caplan, Tim Howar, Ava Gaudet as Mark, Roger, and Maureen. I think it's in pretty good shape right now.

Matt's last day is slated as August 6th. But, as always with him, that could change.

A lot of people love Matt Caplan and a lot of people hate him. Personally, I was kind of "eh" about him. He gets on my nerves, but he wasn't awful. He was okay. I liked Tim Howar, though his Roger was pretty angry. I loved Karmine (I haven't seen it with Antonique, sorry) and I enjoyed Ava. Oh, and I loved the guy who played Angel though I wasn't terribly fond of Collins (sorry, the names are escaping me at the moment).

your vision of Rent could be ruined with just one viewing of the film.
the cast is pretty decent. I've seen them numerous times. I love Matt's Mark. yes he is leaving...tenative date 8/6. he's doing High Fidelity next so yes he really is going. Tim Howar isn't one of the better Rogers but he is a great guy and has a mean Another Day and great chemistry with both Antonique and Karmine. Tim leaves July 31st. Antonique is amazing. not my fav...for that spot will always be Karmine. but she is always stellar.
see them. you may enjoy :)

I have seen the play 7 times including the Original Cast, however, my sister (who has never seen it) wants to go before she moves across the country in August. I just wanted to know if the current cast is the same as it was when I saw it last in January.
I have seen Tim as Roger and while good, I felt as if I dodged spit all night. He is one angry Rog.
Matt, I have never had a problem with him as Mark and have found him tame since Cary left last summer. Of course Anthony was the best, and in an odd way, I enjoyed Drew Lachey.
Karmine was my favorite Mimi. I enjoyed Antonique's acting, but found her singing a little "too much."
Thanks for your opinions :)
I will pass the word on to my sis and see if she wants to go before she moves.

You'd get a new Joanne, most likely. I know Kenna is leaving soon, but I don't know the exact date.

Chris J. Hanke, of In My Life fame, will be replacing Matt.

I just recently took friends to see the show (their first time). I have to say that the cast was not as good (in my opinion) as the last time I saw it. I do not like Tim Howar's Roger at all. Matt was his usual self. Karmine was on as Mimi which made it bearable for me. The audience was dead and the cast seemed to feed right into their lack of energy. It definitely was a pretty lackluster performance. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I sat there wishing that my friends had come to see it earlier this year with Will (who I thought was fab).
We've all got our junk and my junk is you!

How is Kenna's Joanne? And do her and Ava blend well together in Take Me or Leave Me?

I think the general opinions of the cast are dead on. I'm not a Matt fan, but I know some people love him. I enjoyed Tim's Roger, and I'm not a Roger fan in general - I'm very picky!
Kenna's Joanne is great! I really enjoyed her. Once again, Joanne isn't my favorite character, but I do enjoy her if she is played by a strong actress/singer. I really liked her Joanne. I'm not sure if she blended with Ava as Karmine was Maureen the night we saw the show.
I haven't seen Antoinique as Mimi, but I have seen Karmine who is very good. Once again, Mimi isn't one of my favorite characters, but I enjoy her Mimi.
Wow, it sounds like I really don't like the characters, but I swear I actually really like the show!

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

based on the recognition the cast gave her and her wave goodbye at the end of tonight's curtain call (separate from the rest of the cast waving goodbye...) I'd say tonight was Kenna's last show

Is Christopher J. Hanke actually replacing Matt(who really needs to leave)? I thought that he was in Cry-Baby, wouldn't the two conflict?

I enjoyed it more than I did the current touring cast. *shrugs*

Why do you call him Fat Craplan??? I don't think he's fat at all.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

As a Canadian, I love Tim Howar. Saw him in LES MIS in TO as well as TOMMY. I would have thought he'd be a better Mark...but what do I know?
