That's too bad. It's such an enjoyable, entertaining show. Sad to hear it's closing.

Okay all ye knowledgeable ones; are there underlying reasons for this show to be closing? I'm in shock! The grosses were no worse than most of the shows over the last few months and were showing signs of improvement, plus the company just extended their contracts through August. Could someone shed some light on this for me? Could it be that the producers don't think they'll recoup, so they figure cut their losses and close? I need insight, comfort, and a drink.
ARGGG! Too many questions. No answers. Damn!

Thanks B3TA07, I'll probably try that option some time in April. I've been listening to the music on the new BWW radio and I do like it. Sad that it's closing, the grosses didn't seem that low.

This totally gave me a huge shock. When I saw it again a few weeks ago, it looked completely sold out. This is so sad... such an original show that felt old fashioned... in a good way. Let's hope for more shows like that to come!

I'm usually good at knowing when a show's down for the count, but I have to say I did NOT see this coming.

I was going to see this on my Spring Break trip to NYC but David Hyde Pierce is on vacation that week so I picked other shows!
I love the recording.

I'm really surprised. I thought it would go at least through August with sales doing well and the original leads extending their contracts.
What a charming show!

I have had the Pleasure of seeing this show twice and I am glad i did. Granted I only got to see the lovely and talented Megan Sikora once since she was in Applause when I saw it a second time. It's a smartly written show and it will do well on tour. Specially If dare I say John Stamos wants to play Cioffi. I wish it all the luck in the world and the cast and crew all the luck too. Hope the other kander and ebb shows will find there was onto Broadway runs soon.

Complete Shame he did not see the Genius in Curtain. I would have like to see Elaine Paige as Carmen or Patti or Stritch

I have idea why it's closing aside from mediocre sales durring the winter lull. I can't wait to see the next Kander and Ebb project come to frutation though. Is that The Minstrel Show? That sounds interesting.

The Minstrel Show has been dubbed 'controversial" because it's intended to be performed with the characters wearing blackface. But I think this show; at least from what I've read, would be the most interesting of the three Kander and Ebb shows kicking around right now.
Personally I think that 'Skin of our Teeth' will be next. Also, there's 'The Visit', but I'm not very familiar with that show.
The later two are based on other shows. I believe The Minstrel Show is original.
