I know it hasn't opened yet, but has anyone heard anything about Swept Away at Arena Stage? I'm heading to DC in December and debating whether I should see this or Fiddler on the Roof at the Olney.
Personally, I'd JUMP at the chance to see Swept Away! Nothing against Fiddler (I love it), but you can see that a million different places.
You can check out what was said about the the production (same cast, largely) from the Berkely, CA production, and the thread here (if you can find it).
I'm hoping it either moves to NY or will come to Boston! DC is just a bit TOO far for me for a show.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Depending on one's risk tolerance, Arena Stage shows very frequently appear for discounts on Goldstar.
I'll attend Swept Away in late December, but right now about 70% of the seats are available, so I'm opting to monitor sales. If tickets start to move more quickly, I'll spring for the $115 asking price if it hasn't been added to Goldstar at that time.

It's a beautiful show with gorgeous music, and it's only playing in DC. Check it out! You can see Fiddler in thousands of places on this earth every day of the week ;)
Rumor has it that it is coming to Broadway. Are those rumors true? Anyone?. We are taking the train from Richmond, VA in December to see it at The Arena. It has all the makings; cast, director and production values of a broadway production, so the $100 tix are a comparative bargain. .
Well, once anyone can verify a rumor, it ceases to BE a rumor, no?
That has always been the buzz, even before it premiered at Berkely.

There is also the brilliantly directed "Ragtime" at Signature Theatre in Arlington. It's STUNNING!
"Swept Away" is on track for Broadway from Berkeley and new.
The "Ragtime" is a good standard regional production with nothing new to offer in terms of direction. It mainly offers full orchestrations in Signature's intimate medium Off-Broadway-sized venue.
CoffeeBreak- you and I must have seen a different production of Ragtime. Nothing new to offer? It's one of the most remarkable productions I've ever seen. The direction is fresh and inventive. Very different from the overblown original or the terrible revival. The use of the space is truly remarkable. The cast is out of this world good. The Sarah is a revelation. And yes the size of that orchestra in that theatre is worth the price of admission alone.
I’m already seeing ads for it so I’m assuming it’s coming. Michael Mayer is directing two operas at the Met this fall, I’m thinking Swept Away is happening in the springtime. There’s only the Broadhurst, Longacre, and Majestic that are still vacant this fall. Unless something else closes.
