DEAD OUTLAW To Open On Broadway April 27, 2025 — Page 4

are they selling obstructed left/right seats in the mezzanine? or maybe that's for rush/lottery.

If we see it on the first night of previews (Saturday, April 12), any suggestions for whether we should sit in the center mezzanine or the rear orchestra to the side? Would the balcony be too far away for a musical like this one?

I sat in the rear side orchestra for Swept Away and thought it was a pretty good seat. It’s nice and high up. Dead outlaw is such a small musical, I’d recommend the orchestra rather than the balcony.

I’m leaning towards rear side orchestra or center mezzanine. The staging could be different on Broadway than the off-Broadway version, but some shows benefit from being near the center and others don’t matter.
I have never sat in the Longacre mezzanine so can’t speak to that.

IIRC, a fair bit of the action takes place stage right.

I really hope the critics have a more discerning view of this musical when it comes to Broadway. I personally thought it was mostly a waste of space downtown.

The critics (and I) overwhelmingly loved this show off-Broadway. So, you’re hoping critics dislike it more on Broadway? Why?

I truly don’t understand the raves this musical has gotten. I kept waiting for the action to start, but nothing ever happened.

To be fair, it's not exactly an action packed show....

And I adored it and thought it was the best show I saw last year. I thought it was a unique, charming and fascinating presentation of an unbelievable true story, with terrific, catchy, humorous, deadpan, original Yakbek songs and an amazingly talented cast. I wasn’t bored for a second. It will be interesting to see if critical feedback changes in the move to Broadway.

Best new work I have seen on or off Broadway this season. The performance flew by and felt truly original. I can't wait for the transfer!

Assuming it’s not restaged, which is a big assumption, would I be better off house left or house right? I wouldn’t want our views cut off.

Looks like they've instituted some lower prices for previews- $48-58 for the Balcony, $89 for the rear side orch.
Considering how poorly sold all of these houses are, I wouldn't be shocked if we saw more discounts.

SHUCKED literally laid out a blueprint for how to build hype for an original and (relatively) unproven musical. They were advertising EVERYWHERE months beforehand and they even had it up on TDF three months ahead of time and the marketing did NOT stop for the whole run.
Why are more shows not following this blueprint?

Because it wasn't ultimately successful for Shucked?
I think more and more people realize that holding off on buying tickets will basically make the shows have a discount code or just overall lower prices. People are pissed off about the non stop increase in prices and it's starting to affect their bottom line, which is a good thing.

i'm not the best person to answer this -- i don't like sitting to either side. (i tend to go "up" vs "over" when i want to save money.) that said, based on the production at the Audible i think you would want house right over house left.

Shucked didn't recoup, did it? (I could be wrong ) So why would they rush to follow a plan that didn't lead to financial success?

Shucked did not recoup. They made a valiant effort, but certainly didn't create any sort of new blueprint for success.

We were last row, audience left at Audacy, I think we got the last 2 tickets that were sold, and had no problem seeing any of the show. If they keep similar staging, I really don't think left vs. right will matter, assuming it it unobstructed

agree to disagree. at least two key scenes
the autopsy and the entire time he was stood in the coffin
occured fairly stage right.
i don't kow the sightlines in the Longacre well enough to speak with authority, but i could easily see it being a consideration in, you know an entirely different venue.

That’s a pretty big change just from a few days ago. It’s not really helping me yet, as the producers are sticking with higher prices for the first preview (which is the only day that probably works for me).
Wow, double the price for the same orchestra seat for the first preview. I feel like the producers are just messing with me now.

Yup. They read you're comments here and said, "Hold my corpse." ;)

still no discounts? a lot of tickets are unsold.
Posted: 2/20/25 at 11:09am
I think a lot of potential ticket buyers are waiting for discounts. The producers are really making a big error here. The buzz from last year has faded quite a bit and it remains a largely unknown quantity to the general public- they need to be focusing on rebuilding buzz through word of mouth. It’s much easier to come back from largely discounted previews than unsold ones.
