Only twice, but I've bought several tickets for friends. When they'vewanted to see it, they've put me on the case, since they know I can deliver results! Now, it's kind of an obsession. After Ben leaves, I might have to find something else to do, although I also track Hello, Dolly! tickets,so that'll keep me busy until Bette Midler leaves in January."
Hi CT2NYC. I'm a long-time lurker and made an account to say hi and thank you for all of your helpful posts! I hope you'll humor two more questions:
What platform do you use when looking for tickets? Telecharge.com on a computer, telecharge.com on your phone or the telecharge app on your phone? I've looked for tickets minutes after you've posted there are some available, but I've never been able to grab one.
Do you know how common it is for ticket holders to scalp (sell) tickets directly to people waiting in the cancellation line? If I linger outside the theater but not in the cancellation line (because I can't there early enough to wait in line because of work), any idea how likely it may be to grab a last-minute ticket not from the box office?
Thanks again - you're doing an amazing public service with all your posts!

A year ago it was, "people won't pay 'crazy prices' post-Lin & OBC" ... well 35,000+ sold Premium seats laterand $3 millionper week ( BEFORE the secondary market ) sort of proves that wrong."
I didn't say someone wouldn't pay it. I said I thought it was crazy."
What specifically is "crazy" about the people who put on the show trying to sell their seats for as much as the market will bare?

You're twisting what I was saying. My personal opinion is that no 2-hour experience (show, concert or otherwise) is worth that much money. If people can afford and are willing to pay that, good for them. I can understand the desperation to see Ben and almost wrap my mind around $500 to see him if it's your only chance and can afford it, but I 100% think it's crazy to spend that much money on a new actor in the role (who isn't the same status as say Bette Middler). I was just wondering if anyone else agreed.
I never said people wouldn't pay it, nor that the box office shouldn't extract what they can. I just disagree with the imposed worth put upon it.

I doubt this would work, considering it is a line of people specifically not interested in paying more than face value. Also, on the rare chance that people do have an extra ticket and decide to sell to the line for face value, they would sell it to the person at the front of the line.

@annang I got O27 next to you!! Thanks to @CT2NYC"
I hope you mean O 25. If you both got O 27, that would be bad!

I use the app. The mobile site uses the same platform, so it might work just as well, but I haven't tried it lately. As far as scalpers go, I haven't spent any time in the cancellation line, so I have no idea. I do know that it's against the law to resell within 500 feet of the venue, though.

Good, I was worried! You can wave to each other from across the theatre! I got O 28 for a friend a 2 weeks ago, and she said the view was perfect!
Agghhhh my friend and I arrived at the cancellation line at 12:30 am and there are SIX PEOPLE in front of us, and four of them are professional line sitters (each getting two tickets each). I just wanna give a gentle nudge to people who are thinking about paying the line sitters to think about people who are actually camping here to get tickets for themselves because it's their only option, and maybe if you have those dollars to spend, just go ahead and buy from StubHub?
I understand it's marginally cheaper to pay them but just like, remember the people who travelled here and can't afford line sitters or resale and missed the four day tickets.

How come you didn't simply choose a different future date and try again?
"
My sister came from Texas to see this and she leaves Monday night. Also the girl in front of me came from Thailand and leaves tomorrow, and the two girls behind me came from Atlanta and also leave tomorrow. That's my point, people aren't camping out unless they don't have other options.
Hello! New to the boards but this information has been very helpful.
I'm in NY for one night only and I'm hoping to be able to see DEH that i've been following since it began. I'm looking to go 27th October, so following the 4 day trick, with tomorrow (Monday) being a dark day in most theatre, that's still the best day to start looking for released tickets on telecharge?
I cant get there early as my flight doesn't arrive till 12:30 at JFK on that day and I have to check into an airport hotel and get into the city too.
Failing that and I look on stubhub, when is the best time to get the best deal on stubhub?
And what's peoples experience with good seats or more importantly, those to avoid. If I'm going to be paying a crazy amount for a ticket (that i'll likely pretend not to see if I manage to get a ticket haha) i'd rather have a seat where I'm not going to be able to see much at all. I've only been to Broadway twice to see Anastasia and Phantom of the Opera so I've not much experience with the different theatre venues there.
Yes, tomorrow is the day you should check for the 4 day rule. The show being dark has nothing to do with ticket sales, so that's your best chance if you're looking to buy off of Telecharge.
As far as the seats go, there aren't that many bad choices. I would avoid the extreme sides on the first three or four rows, but other than that, there aren't that many terrible options.
Quite a few seats were released today. I'm looking at N 28 right now, and that might be the last one. If anyone is still trying, let me know. I'll hold it as long as I can.
Curious, are you best to un-tick the premium seating options when searching or, if you are willing to pay any seats from Telecharge, if there are no premium available will it still show any tickets available?

If I was selling tickets, I would sell it to the first person who gave me my requested amount. I could care less if they were at the front, middle or end of a line. Or just walking by.
