Chucky said “This does NOT sound like a "line-sitter" if their plan was to simply sell the tickets to people behind them in the very line that they are sitting in ( and technically this is very illegal to do right outside the theater ).”

Yes they were line sitters from NJ. I was there for 8 hours with them. He offered to sit for me but I brought my chair. I have their card. I know the line sitter guys from Ham. I got to go bc he couldn’t sell the last ticket.

The two folks got online for 8 pm show at 9am but when they learned there was a matinee cancel line, they left the normal line b4 I got there at noon.

I know the line guys. A friend of mine used them multiple times for Ham. Each time the sitter went in with her for show. I think she’s up to 29 times that she’s seen the show.

I also know cast & producers have seats which were questions I asked of BO supervisor.

Bottom line, I am convinced that 8 seats are pretty certain without including the lottery 12. That makes 20. Only 4 singles and 2 doubles were sold on Wednesday which is what a lot of folks have said here about limited supply. I grilled the BO guy, but nicely.

Alot of this may be irrelevant once Ben goes. Show is great with him. I don’t care to see replacement.

I have a question about the 4 day rule.  Is there a particular time of day the tickets are released or is it just random?

I saw the show tonight and I feel like I should chime in since I owe my ticket to this thread and of course the awesome work of CT2NYC. I came in to town for work and knew a month or so ago that I'd have this one night available. Learning of the 4 day trick, I started looking for tickets on Sunday morning at around 8 am pacific time while I was still at home in California. I used the app and continually refreshed every so often and got my ticket at around 9:20 am (12:20 eastern, of course). I can't say whether or not that's the same time they release tickets every day, but that's how I got mine (J 114, mezzanine). I can't tell you how grateful I am to CT2NYC and the awesome advice on this board - I had one shot to see this show and I got it, and it was everything I imagined and more. If you're thinking about going, GO. Even after Ben leaves, just go. It's awesome.

For the 4 day tickets, how quickly does Telecharge email you the tickets? Do they still hold them for days? Or do they send them immediately?

It's still a 3-day hold. So, for example, tickets purchased Monday for tomorrow night's show would have been emailed today, sometime after midnight.

The 4 day trick has worked for me 3 times now. my friend, nephew and I will all have seen the show this week. I went Tues. It was phenomenal. I Can’t thank you enough CT2NYC! You realize that you could have kept it to yourself and completely taken advantage of that information and made a killing on stubhub ...instead you helped us real fans. You’re good people!! Does the 4 day rule mean that tickets for a show are only released the 4th day prior to the show or could they also be released like 1, 2, or 3 days prior to the show?

It's pretty much a set release schedule for those non-premium seats. In the past, I've definitely seen 5 days out, and possibly 3 days, but never 1 or 2 days.

Thanks.  Is it the same time every day?  I saw someone mention 12:20pm eastern time so I am wondering if that is when I need to check.

It's never the same time, and, recently, the window seems to have widened. I would start checking in the mid-morning, maybe 10:30 a.m., just to be sure.

I SAT NEXT TO EMILYINSF in J113 in tonight's show!! And I mirror everything she says about CT2NYC - sharing the knowledge of these released tickets has given me (and my sister) the opportunity to see this amazing show, as we could not afford the inflation of a resell ticket. The story means so much to me and my personally experience with emotional distress in high school, I am glad that people have the opportunity to see it at an affordable price (without sleeping in the streets of NYC lol).

Honestly, CT2NYC's actions gives me hope that amazing people still exist. We should all echo his generosity and kindness to strangers!

JayElle said: "One last point. After the seats were sold, I complained to the house manager about allowing line sitters to scoop up tickets and then scalp them to the folks on cancel line. He's basically approving illegal scalping in front of his door."

Thank you for bringing this up to them because I would have done the same thing had I seen that myself.

I remember some theaters used to do SRO/cancellation line policy of 1 ticket per person. In that way, only the people who took the time out of their day reap the rewards of seeing the show. I doubt DEH will change their policy this late but by selling one ticket per person and have that person go directly inside the theater would probably prevent that scenario of professional ticket resellers using the cancellation line to buy 2 tickets to immediately scalp them with an added $100 fee to other theatergoers.

WE GOT IN!!! Sleeping in the streets was 1000000% worth it, lol! Still can’t believe it - just an amazing and moving experience watching these talented actors do what they love most.
Here’s a recap of my 24 hours to watch a Thursday night show:

930 pm, Wednesday night - 2 line sitters arrived, each wanting 2 tickets
945 pm - I arrived, wanting 2 tickets
7 am, Thursday morning - 4th person showed up, wanting 4 tickets
8:45 am - Group of 5 showed up,
Others trickled in and out between 9 and 3 pm, probably around 20 people in line by 6:30 pm

During the night: line sitter let me borrow his chair to sleep on! Low of 54, with intense wind chill. Thin blanket + rain jacket + knit jacket = not enough. Gloves + scarf necessary for a cold October night.

1st tickets given at 5 pm - Orchestra Row G Seats 11 and 12 - LineDude took them
630 pm - the staff set up the barricades, and we shifted to cancellation line.

640 pm - A staff member came out and asked each of us how many tickets we were going for, then told half the line it was better just to go as they were most likely not going to get a ticket.

6:45 pm - as we were waiting in the cancellation line, a man asked the Line Dude in front of us if we were the cancellation line, he said yes, and gave him an extra ticket for free! I guess his guest couldn’t attend. It was in Mezz Row A Seat 4. He took it graciously.

6:56 pm - Line Dude was called up for pair of tickets for his clients. In the rush I forgot to ask what seats they were.

6:57 pm - gettin really nervous. As Line Dude was packing up, he GAVE ME HIS TICKET! Ahhhh. I walked into the lobby, waiting to see if my husband could get in...

6:58 pm - My husband is called up, along with the couple behind us. He got Orchestra Row F Seat 1 for $199. The couple behind us got the seats next to his, Orchestra Row F Seats 3 and (whichever numbers are next to it). I switched seats with my husband since I’m the one who slept outside, he didn’t mind. DOWNRIGHT AMAZING VIEW.He had an amazing view too in the Mezz, front row.

I SWEAR BEN LOOKED AT ME LIKE A GAZILLION TIMES. ALL THE FEELS. ALL THE EMOTIONS. JUST AN AMAZING SHOW WITH AN AMAZING CAST.

Overall, the first 4 people got 7 cancellations tickets and 1 free ticket, right on the average as others have mentioned. If I had known better, I would not have needed to camp out as the first person after me got there at 7 am. I suggest getting there at 5/6 am and assessing the scene and your chances.

I agree with your suggestion, JayElle, about starting a bit earlier if they know they have tickets - the staff checking tickets get antsy and rude at the last second, but we have to wait until then, so it’s this awkward hold of paying for the ticket with them staring at you intensely with an upset expression on their face. Oh well! Also, we didn’t see anyone sitting outside in the line when we left the Music Box around 11pm.

Best of luck to all hoping for cancellation tickets!!!

When I joined the Broadway World message boards this past March, I had no idea that I would be able to affect people's lives in the way you're expressing. I've seen a lot of fighting and nastiness on here, mostly over petty nonsense, but you guys show me that these forums can be used for good, and that I can make a difference, simply by being kind. My thanks to all of you for everything you've written about me; I appreciate it more than I can say. Words fail. wink

I'm chiming in here too! I was also there last night (N21) due to CT2NYC and this board. Show is as amazing as you hear and we were lucky as entire cast was there last night. I second To go, even when Ben Platt leaves. It's an important messge and so well done. Thank you again- you have made a lot of people happy with your selfless service!!

Apologies if this question is redundant - but what do you suggest is the best strategy if I am trying to secure 2 seats using the 4-day rule? I am more than fine sitting separately, but I'm worried that if I search one ticket at a time, I might only be able to purchase one ticket before all the others sell out. Searching for 2 seats will only show 2 tickets together, right? Any advice would be great!
