Rob, thanks for the insight regarding the IGNORE feature. I like that we'll have the option on what kind of blocking (posts only or both threads & posts) can be done.
Also, could you expand on potential to unblock a poster? On Facebook, for example, you can block and unblock as often as you'd like but there is always a 48-hour waiting period. How will it work here?
cuse you, diamond, and your army of quick fingered coders! you have not heard the last of me!
muah-hahahaha *cough* hahaha *cough* ha
Instead of an Ignore function, how about a function that automatically sets up a duel with flintlock pistols?

this is the single greatest idea in the history of broadwayworld. rob, you need to send kad a placemat or a tote or something.

And doesn't every challenge to a duel end with "you cad!"?
Dear Rob....
Another thought: the "reply to THIS message" button really has nothing to to with the current message at all....so you need to either:
Change the wording: Add to the disucssion (for example); OR
Have some sort of tag as to what post one is referring.
(Again....take a look at amazon.com's discussion board they used this 2nd option.)
And something else came to me last night.
I would love to know the ages, or the age range, of posters. Is there a way to do that, without giving up vital information?
I think it would be helpful to know.
Well it wouldn't be accurate, Diva. How many people (trolls, especially) give the correct information when signing up for an account?
True... I was hoping there was a way to do it upon sign up and have it verified BEFORE newbies start posting.
Also, if there's minors present, I would hope it would keep the conversation clean(er),
Except I don't know if there are too many people that sign up without checking out the boards.
There really isn't a way to verify one's age online....it's pretty much honor system.

When is "Ignore" going live? Has a date been given?
Yes, Scott. I wonder too.
We were not given a time, but Rob mentioned it was near-ready.
I can hardly wait! BWW will become a Sue Free One!

TheatreDiva90016, Yes, my name is Scott. But, what I find curious is that you would choose to reveal it - not a personal biggie. From the argument you're having with Ghostlight2 over in the other thread, it seems that maintaining one's anonymity is important to you. Hypocrite much?
I tried to remain impartial listening to both your arguments and wondering how both of your perspectives could be true. You just lost my empathy.
People have been testing it, so I assume very shortly.
And ArtC, you previously posted on this forum under the name of Scott Briefer.

"...ArtC, you previously posted on this forum under the name of Scott Briefer."
Actually, I didn't. That is the weird bug that is mentioned in my signature. I never registered under Scott Briefer, but it would come up sometimes that way until it just stopped letting me in at all. That is the very reason why I had to re-register and became ARTc3.
BTW... Clearly now, people who read this know my name isn't Art. ARTc - say it aloud - comes from my passion for all things creative. Well, to be completely honest, I once owned a company named ARTiculate Communications, but when I realized that ARTc could mean artsy...
"Ah, but I have been here... under a different username. I have been here for many years. I had asked to have my account deleted over a year ago and after a long absence, I decided I would give BroadwayWorld another chance. For a while I was just a lurker, but I finally re-registered."
"Not sure why my old username is important, but for full disclosure: Scott Briefer."
Brought up in another topic.

This is very true. Which is why I wrote that personally, I am comfortable not being anonymous. I would be the hypocrite if I did take issue considering the "Ignore" thread I started.
I'm cool with my name being revealed. Perhaps, I'm being overly sensitive, but I took TheatreDiva90016 choice to use my real name as a sort of "dig". Considering the issues that s/he and Ghostlight2 are struggling with, I thought that very hypocritical. I've re-read the post though and I could be reading far more into it than was intended.
Either way, it is my place to reveal my name and not TheatreDiva90016's. Considering what s/he has struggled with in previous mentioned argument, one would think s/he would know that.

Kad, your link is very cool. Look below the post you are referring to. It is a screen capture and you can see that ARTc and Scott Briefer are both listed. ARTc as the originator of the thread and Scott Briefer as a poster. That is the very issue that was occurring that caused me to have to re-register.

That doesn't change the fact that you once posted as 'Scott Breifer.' Right?
Diva wasn't violating anonymity by addressing you by a name you yourself have said was your username here. The fact that it happens to actually be your name is beside the point- how was anyone to know that was actually your name?

I never posted as Scott Briefer. I always registered as ARTc. Here's the history...
In 2004 I first found BroadwayWorld and registered as ARTc a username that I had been using for some time already. My other username was The Maharajah of Madness, but that's another story and I never used that name here.
I wasn't that interested in forums at that time and so I rarely - if ever - showed up here. A few years later, not remembering that I even was registered here, I returned. Funny, but at that time, my status as to how long I had been here, was also an issue. (Why is this so important here?)
Anyway... I hung around for a few years as a fairly active member. Posting when I felt I had something to say. I created some pretty cool threads that had "legs". I started the set design thread, to name one that was quite popular.
I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I got into an argument here. I think it was over liking Memphis and my experiences with Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark. The reaction to my posts were so hurtful to me that I decided it wasn't worth being here and left. I actually emailed the "board" and asked them to remove my membership.
Again, some time would go by. This time, I think less than a year, but I'm usually terrible with dates and it could have been a little more than a year.
I missed BroadwayWorld and so I started "lurking". There were many posts that I wanted to add my 2 cents to, but now I couldn't as I was no longer an active member. Eventually, the want to "share" outweighed my anger and hurt at the rudeness I perceived from several members of this board and I tried to re-register. I had a lot of trouble, but was eventually able to through facebook. The posts quoted above were done at that time, just a short while ago.
It let me in as ARTc, and when I started a thread, it credited ARTc, but sometimes - actually often - my username would show up as Scott Briefer. This was completely outside of my control. I never registered with the username, Scott Briefer. It was always only put in the "name" fields.
I tried to correct it by registering as ARTc2, but it didn't work and actually had the opposite effect, it threw me out altogether. I then tried again and that is how I am her now. For some reason, my membership seems to now be working fine.
